I wish someone shut these bastards up once and for all.

Re: Canadian soldier killed in Kandahar

How many Canadian troops must die before the idiot Harper government realizes that this war is America's war not ours. The Taliban was not a problem for the Americans until they balked at the pipeline deal. It was then that their form of government became unacceptable to them. As for Osama, the Taliban was ready to hand him over provided the US could prove that he was really guilty in the Twin Towers bombing.

America should consider itself lucky that Russia is not supporting the insurgence the way the US did when Russia was trying to "straighten out" that godforsaken country. We must stop the obsession of the West trying to force its cultural values on other cultures, especially cultures it considers inferior. The West cannot and should not be the policemen of the world, there are far too many injustices where intervention would be required, including in some of the countries in the West.

We should do like the Turks did in Northern Iraq, declare victory and get the hell out. They did not solve anything either but at least they pretended to have succeeded.

Re: Hamas leader says armed resistance "only option"

The cat is out of the bag. There is a holocaust in the Gaza perpetrated by the Israeli Nazis, and supported by their counterparts in the USA. Israel has a right to defend itself is BS, Israel is the aggressor and the Palestinians are the occupied people. All occupied people have the right to defend themselves by whatever means are at their disposal. Israel does not want peace and it made it very clear that it does not want to have any Palestinians on "its" territory. The land upon which Israel is established was taken from the indigenous population which lived there by the infamous Balfour Declaration. The Brits had no more right to take land from their owners than did the God of the Israelites cakked Jehova. May be the God of the Palestinians called Allah wants to give it back to his people.

Re: 2ND LEAD: Turkey says military operation in Iraq might last a year

Very interesting! as the little German soldier would say on Laugh-in. It seems like this is a case of Do as I say not as I do. Has not the Bush government resisted calls to announce a clear exit date by stating that by acceding to such a demand we would be helping the enemy? When Germany attacked Poland as a self-defense measure that was considered a war crime at Nuremberg, but in to0day's world, friends of the US like Turkey and of course Israel can transgress international borders or ignore UN resolutions at will claiming that it is "SELF DEFENSE". I feel sorry for the Turkish conscripts who are forced to undertake such a futile act and even die for it, but I will not a drop of tear for the professional killers of the Western Powers who are all volunteers. Dying is part of the military code. It used to be that to die for your country was the highest sacrifice a man could make but to-day's soldiers either die because they like to fight (NB the grieving US families to a man said that their loved one "died do what he/she liked to do" or for a lot of cash a la the mercenaries. May the the US would do well to follow its own advice to the Turks and make an exit date known so that we could put an end to this bloody war.
