Part of the issue is how POORLY the manufacturers provide replacement ordering for batteries. I just got a counterfeit warning on my HP x360 for a battery I bought on Amazon. Well IF Amazon or even HP sold the doggone original battery, I WOULD BUY IT. If it is available to buy, then my Search-Fu is the worst it has ever been because I am still looking for it...

Glock 20?? The most powerful Glock is in the 357 SIG caliber and I still wouldn't carry that in grizzly country. Something near a .500 mag revolver would be my choice. No doubt about it being ready to shoot and definitely enough power for a bear.

Meh. I mean, I get it. I have tried running my own business. The first big try failed and I will probably make another run soon. But let's be realistic. The masses CANNOT do what you are suggesting. The minority that has the drive, motivation and means will have a few attempts and successes. But even being in a "job" is not the nightmare scenario you describe just because it's a "job". I have been continuously educating myself for 14 years, changing jobs every 1-3 years and I earn in the top 2% with NO college degree. and I love Mondays and despise people who whine about them. I picked my career and I love it (my second career, that is, because I did not love the first).

I like what you are getting at, but the failure to connect with the realities of life for MOST people will relegate this piece to appeal to the people who already agree with you and have been trying or succeeding at what you suggest. Preaching to the choir, really. But I like the reminder to keep on the course to independence. I feel fortunate to love my work, but it's no accident. And I am even scouting for a new career because I want to change careers BEFORE this one burns out :)

Oh yeah, I work in IT.... :)

I always shoot high. If they balk, that's fine. I always negotiate from a position of currently employed at a good job and good pay. I am never desperate for the next job, so they can take or leave my expected salary :) No skin off my back if they say no. Now I will negotiate some depending on benefits, but if they hesitate at my number, I tell them that I am assuming the worst case scenario in benefits and offer to let them explain why I should come down, keep it flexible until the picture is clearer. But I will rarely change to a whole new company for less than a 5% raise. It's too stressful not to get a real bump. But I usually get 10-15% because not only do I have more experience, but I also continue to add new certifications to my resume, so my knowledge greatly increases year to year. Be bold and ask for what you want. All they can do is say no. If you are already employed, then so what? :)

Excellent correlation. I have been saying this for years, but this interview and post really solidify my own theories regarding both "believers" and non-believers. I think that many people who consider themselves to be believers are actually "hypnotized" to believe in a false gospel, rather than having had a real contact of faith with God... just a theory, but it explains the sheep and the goats judgment...

It's not being "translated", it is merely being interpreted. Important difference and the humor falls flat. Some of it could be funny, but the difference is the same as a comedian making fun of his own nose versus a bully doing the same thing. We can appreciate self deprecating humor, but this is more sinister and offensive.

Hm, that explains a lot. I keep my resume in decent working order, but I keep my LinkedIn profile sharp and I try to keep my Google exposure clean. I do post in some social media forums about topics that I am passionate about, but I try to treat my online personality as if every person I know or may ever meet will see it. That is not to say I have never made an offensive remark on a political subject, but I try to check myself and segregate those aspects of my online persona to the appropriate venue, like avoiding politics on LinkedIn.

I am so tired of fake church that I don't even want to really get into it. I currently attend a Calvary Chapel but ONLY because the pastor says the tough things, including admission of his own problems. If we can't be honest with each other, there is no point assembling. If we want to get better, we have to be transparent... ok that's all for now...
