I am neither a Republican nor a "wingnut": in my post, I very, very clearly expressed my disapproval of the sort of nonsense being spouted out by radicals who oppose health reform purely for the sake of partisanship or point-scoring.

Don't refer to me as "you people"; I do not associate myself with the Republican Party as it currently exists, and I resent the implication that being a Conservative (British capital "C") means that I am equivalent to the GOP, which is old but no longer grand. With the probable exception of Daniel Hannan, most Conservatives would find themselves more at one with the Democrats (and probably its economically liberal wing) than with the Republicans.

Re: Nine News Melbourne gets that update its been preying for…

Methinks you mean "praying".

Re: Tell Us Your Health Care Horror Story

"We as Americans are so used to living in a nation with the best health care in the world": and which nation would that be? Have you all shipped off to Europe, or did I miss something?

Re: Tell Us Your Health Care Horror Story

It is a lie to say that there are no reliable stats relating to health care comparisons. In fact, a lot of health reform opponents have cited international comparisons themselves. Oddly enough, they rarely cite the full reports, because doing so reveals things such as the fact that more than half of Americans have unmet needs due to cost constraints over a two year span. That's four times the figure in Britain.

As a Conservative who would like to engage in a proper debate about health-care, I am constantly frustrated by the way in which a bunch of self-important loons have taken it upon themselves to fight on "our" behalf. Criticising aspects of whatever health care reform being proposed does not mean ignoring facts, distorting evidence and relying on utter lies; and I am saddened that we on the right of politics are increasingly being labelled as intellectually dishonest as a result of the claptrap delivered by individuals and groups like the CRNC.
