To your point on covers, I think brands will love FB Timeline covers. It feels like a traditional website marquee. Frankly, it feels like MySpace. Although the utility of the requisite scroll is crappy, I think brands will jump on a branded banner on the top of their page.

Re: I killed more than an hour watching How Music Works this weekend

I've wasted entire afternoons creating pentatonic melodies on my keyboard.

Re: Does Spotify sharing on Facebook change what you listen to?

Yeah. I'm assuming it's like FB where they get slapped for default privacy settings turned on so need to roll out new updates with defaults turned off. It's sloppy existing customer relations, though.

Re: Does Spotify sharing on Facebook change what you listen to?

Do you have "new" FB yet? It doesn't really spam people's streams in the new format, and I actually really like seeing what other people are listening to. My colleague Damien in New York and I seem to like the exact same stuff. The other day he was playing NIN's The Fragile, and I was like, OH YEAH -- and started listening to it. (I now seem to think I told you this same thing at coffee earlier this week - ha).

Re: 5 (Better) Reasons I’m Pumped for MIMA Summit 2011

I think we just about have to. Netflix is full of super old crap nobody cares about, and now that super old crap nobody cares about is intermittently sparsed between what few good movies are available for streaming. And the comment about paying for this is a great point. When Facebook makes a UX change, so be it. But I'm paying for Netflix.

Re: Whatchu spinning today?

I googled BBP and am still not sure I know what you're talking about.

Re: Pissalyzer Urges Men to Call A Cab

Anyone willing to pee on marketing messages has surely had too many drinks.

Re: How I plan to cut the cable cord

Very interesting. So does that mean you have a home phone line? There's another post for you! I had Qwest DSL and experienced slow service, not to mention it was cheaper if you had a land line, and I didn't want a land line!

Re: How I plan to cut the cable cord

Are you using DSL for the Internet to power all of those devices? I didn't see you break out the cost for broadband. Given that we can't get fiber optic internet in our market, cable internet is the fastest option, and in my experience, critical for the speed I require to stream/download/upload. We actually have city wi-fi in my neighborhood, but it's achingly slow. I never watch TV but unfortunately am handcuffed to the cable folks until a faster option comes alone.
