Learning a lot of languages is a *very* good thing. But learn more than just
the syntax - learn the culture, 'the way' of doing things. My python looked
a lot like my C# for the first few months. Reading other people's code, and
fixing bugs in them helps a lot, as does starting your own project in one of
the languages you are learning.

Infact, writing a piece of code you are going to use everyday in a language
is the best way to learn it's culture.

Nobody can claim to know anything till they've written/contributed
significantly to a project of non-trivial size in that language. I still
haven't done it for C. I should. Suggestions anyone?

I tried K&R - but gave up after the first chapter. Feels way too basic. Maybe I should skip some chapters the next time I try :)

Scheme. I tried learning Scheme. About four times. And I've given up each
time. Maybe I'll do it some day - I learnt python on my 4th attempt at it :)

I moved my blog off from wordpress to statically generated HTML pages too. Python+Jinja(templating)+Markdown(composing)+GitHub(backup). My primary reason was, ofcourse, the fact that I have access to only a friend's shared dreamhost account, so I can't expect WP to stay up all the time there. Besides, working on this was darn cool :)

Also, where did I get the idea from? Your github repo :) So last time I started reading one of your search engine articles and ended up doing stats, and now I start off by seeing bits of your static blog publishing tool and end up with my own static blog publishing tool :)

That's where a real + fake one trumps just fake I guess. However, a
real + fake will probably drain out all your time and energy - keeping
one identity online itself is a huge timesink. Two? Chanceless :(

I can't delete myself.

Having my real identity up has helped me *TONS*. Like, real tons. And
I'd like to keep it that way - I've got code, photographs, and some
articles online that have helped me a lot in real life.

I like being non-anonymous. It does have it's limitations (which I
hate, and which this post was about), but it does have it's advantages
too (which I enjoy)

Am looking for a middle ground. Let's see if I can make it :)
