By the way Mike, I have never been Anti-Cooperation. I've always said that I appreciate and welcome Columbus's help. Sometimes I write for effect, so I'm sorry you got that impression.

And of course cooperation cuts both ways. I've tagged all my Columbus pictures within Instagram with #DublinColumbusOhio. Thank you for giving us top billing. ;)

Ha ha, Mike, thanks for painting me as a parochial ogre when all I'm asking is that the name of the city be properly identified. I respect you though for your role in making Columbus great.

With regards to Melbourne. I get it. I'm sure Black Rock gets it too. But I really can't compare Dublin to Black Rock because I know nothing about Black Rock. But I did tell Experience Columbus that I can see why they said it was in Melbourne given that the golf course is named The Royal Melbourne Golf Club.

Yeah for regional collaboration. But not at the expense of local identity.

I don't see it that way. I see it as a frustrated business owner airing her side of a story that the politicians seem to want to ignore. From reading her tweets and her comments on Columbus Underground, it seems that local businesses have had major issues with this one department for a long time. Sometimes, you just have to take your fight out in the street.

Ok, I certainly agree with your point about social media's reach. I've lived it with some of the events I've organized. I guess my point is that Columbus' response is all politics. I think people view politicians negatively anyway but really don't hold that against the citizens and businesses of the city. I've railed on endlessly in the past about how pathetic I think our local politicians are. But that doesn't stop me from celebrating the people and businesses in Columbus. Yeah, you all suck during football season, but I can look past that.

Thanks for your point of view Tyler. I really don't think the Columbus brand will take too much of a hit because of this conversation. While Twitter is a popular service, I don't think it's mainstream enough, nor does Liz have a huge celebrity like following outside of Columbus to make an impact. I will still support her businesses and other local business. Because of this conversation, I'm more likely to do so more.

I really think Mayor Coleman and DPS missed an opportunity for real conversation here. Instead, they just seemed to shrug it off.

Yes, it sounds like there's some backlash that the Short North Business Association needs to address. I didn't attend Highball, nor do I live in the Short North, so I have no say in the matter. But I think these types of discussions should take place. And that's why I posted the Twitter threads here.

Yeah, it was just suggested. My headline was sensationalist, and probably should have been posted as a question rather than as a statement. My main goal was to capture the conversation while it was still available on Twitter search, since tweets eventually drop off from search.

I actually do see both sides of this. I live by Coffman Park in Dublin, and they do a ton of events in the area. The influx of people can be annoying (but not to the extent that happens in the Short North), but I enjoy being able to bike to them and enjoy them for what they are.

I have to admit Walker, I love what you do with Columbus Underground and how you present all sides of of things. I wish I had the time to reach out to folks to get the other side of this issue. Maybe I'll reach out to them on Twitter and point to this post to comment.
