Please, let's stop this. The top goal of this convention was unity, and once united the appeal was heavily to the Democratic base. The implications that something was wrong with the convention are bizarre at best. This convention was nearly perfect, accomplishing everything it had to as if going down a checklist. Can't you see that?

He even got a bit specific at times, which was more than I expected. But no matter what the heads tell us, the convention went precisely like clockwork and accomplished everything it was supposed to.

The reason that this was only recently noticed is that two years after the DEIS they finally made an inspection to see what it'll hold. There is a restriction on cars and trucks - max 80,000 pounds. LRT weighs a bit more than that.

Whoa, now. First of all, they had to do it this way for practical reasons. The main purpose of this convention was to unite the party, which is to say that we are all family. Of course it's as backwards looking as the reminiscences at Thanksgiving Dinner - it has to be that way.

Will we hear more plans from Obama tonight? Yes, we will. It may not be too specific.

The problems that this nation faces are so severe that it's going to be hard for anyone to talk about them and get elected. Look how far Ron Paul got, for example. The talk about "Hope" as an abstract concept is a variation on "Trust me"; for many of the problems that's going to have to do.

Sounds crass? Sure is. But this is a campaign. He's gotta get elected first, and that means there has to be positive spin on everything. How do you spin the Five Crises that are threatening our way of life? Obama's got the only way.

It's hardly surprising that a few yahoos have this idea, given that racism isn't exactly an appeal to our better angels. If only 1 person in a million is this nutty, we have 300 of them walking around the USofA - an average of 6 per state. Looks like they got most of Colorado's quotient here.

Good thing the FBI is on this so early. It's gotta be hard to track every whack job in this nation.
