Yo, darlin. There is a distinct lack of a paypal link up in this here Tumblr page. Yes, my long-suffering husband is still unemployed himself, and yes, we're still in demonstrably sucky straits, but I can, at least (no, make that "will," as in "don't even try to talk me out of this, lady"), put out a little call about how awesome you are, in which case it would be downright handy to have some means via which persons moved to do so could drop some repackaged good karma into your account. Failing that, I could provide your email address (hopefully the last one I have for you is still good), as this is all paypal needs to facilitate such transactions, but I couldn't do that (e.g., put your email address out there on my Tumblr and/or Twitter) without getting your blessing, first. (For spambot deflection, would at least make it like "username ~at~ domain.com" or whatever.)

If the above notion doesn't work, there are other alternatives.

Anyway, I'm so sorry you lost your job, that makes me very sad.

And just so you know, tonight I was adding some new folks (specifically, persons with low daily update counts, so my ADD doesn't go way out of control, as it tends to), to my main account (the one I access almost entirely via mobile apps, thus trying to follow only lower-volume folks there), and was happy to be able to add you. Only after I'd added you, did I notice your "donations/good karma" tweet. I didn't want you to think I'd followed out of some lame pity crap (while I do have every basis for empathy, it had nothing to do with even that) - it was entirely because, of course, I really like you, and you're posting within a range my pea-sized brain and mobile apps can presently digest.

In my experience, "empowered survivor" is an oxymoron. (Not that it is, or ought to be that for everyone; just saying, it's been that for me.) When one's identity as a survivor overtakes one's identity as (whatever one was before: a writer, a singer, etc.) in terms of how one is perceived by others, it's about as "empowering" as the original trauma itself.

Or else I'm just a bitter old survivor (of various things), still nauseous from years of being pigeon-holed as such.

In any event, I fully agree with your premise, and am grateful you expressed it here.
