That's a shame that you have that limitation. I never mind people, especially non-profits, using my work. It's just hard being a creator and trying to scratch out some compensation when your work is used so freely. Thank you for doing the best you are able. :)

What an amazing event...even though I wasn't there, between you telling me a little about it last night, your accounting here and photos, I am inspired...just what I needed. Thank You! This looks like it was a unique experience that more should share. I think instead of it getting larger, I think perhaps having more events in other places might be a good way to share this without losing the intimacy.

The proper use of my photo is to have it linked to its page on Flickr, not stored on your servers. Please fix this. I am honoured that you chose to use it, you just need to abide by Flickr's ToS and the rights usage.

I have always tried to live this way. I'm not always successful, but I do try to let the people I care about know that they are important to me. The ironic thing is while I first started reading this, my 26 year old came up to me to tell me that one of her good friends from high school just died. You just never know which is all the more reason to let those you love know how you feel.

Great post! BTW... It has been too long since I have seen the two of you. Perhaps sometime before ski season there's a trip to Boston in my future.

I LOVE the new logo!! One comment though. I would stick to a white only outline of the Old Man on the red version. The black line detracts from the overall look.

AMEN!!! I have been shouting this for yeas now as my oldest set are 27 and 25, I have seen the changes in the world and the lack of growth to follow in the educational realm. I do not know what the answer is, but I do know just as our medical system is complete broken, so is our educational system. By all rights, both should be totally revamped from the ground up, but that isn't going to happen any time soon. There is too much red tape and people with their heads stuck in the mud for real change to occur. Unfortunately, as the speed of technology and forward thinking rages on, our schools and our children are going to drop further and further behind, except for the fortunate ones to have parents like you and I.

My hope is that we can set the stage so that when these children grow, they will recognise what change needs to happen and make it a priority to see it through to fruition. Sadly, I think that's the best we can hope for. Our work is to start breaking down the walls so that they may rebuild.

I think you are right on the money. I know I don't use any of the services the same way and while there is overlap of my friends on each service, the levels to which I share and what I share are totally different 90 percent of the time. I'm not going to go back through my Facebook and reorganise my privacy yet again...even if I did trust them. I like 4sq and I like how I have it set up and I know what I am sharing when and with whom. I'll keep things just the way they are.

Funny, I was thinking of writing a post on commenting earlier this week. Personally, I don't understand why people don't comment. I understand the value of sharing something on Twitter, Facebook and the like, but there are many good reasons to leave a comment. First and foremost in my mind, I like to leave a comment just to let the content provider know that not only was I there, but I read/viewed/listened to what they published and found it of value. I think it is important, and as a content provider, I do know its value. Everyone likes to know that someone out there is actually on the receiving end of what they are sharing.

I do hear people complain (and this pertains mostly to photosharing) about getting short, non-informative comments like, "Nice job!" and "Awesome!". Their beef is that they want more from a comment, that they are looking for constructive criticism. To those people I say, be glad someone thought enough to not only view your work, but left their mark to let you know they were there. If you want more informative comments, ask for them.

So, as someone who does comment, I am glad to see your post and I hope you don't stop writing. I don't comment as much as I would like and I don't get around to reading nearly half of what I want to, but I do like to let people know I find value in what they contribute. In short...

Keep it up! :)
