You can get a free, non-commercial license, but it is mainly a paid product.

One unique feature is how easy it is to integrate a forum and wiki into it, as I now have 2 clients with blogs and accompanying forums. There is a good developer base out there as well.

Comparing EE to other CMSs, it is usually in the lower numbers. And there are certainly not as many developers for it as with WP or others. Where there may be a half-dozen plugins for a certain function, there may be 1 with EE.

As for your question though Phil, "best" is so subjective. I tend not to engage in direct debates on what technology or app is "best" for this reason... rather I offer to engage in lively dialogue on features, functionality, etc.
mp/m

Re: why do we treat twitter like a utility? - utilize your me.dm

Excellent post - now just try explaining it to the kids. :)

It also helps if you have a "base" of your own - a Web site, blog, etc. with your name on it. It also helps if you actually know who some of the people you are slinging 140 characters at, and then if Twitter or anything else goes down, you can still find them.

mp/m

Re: Pairing Wisdom With Company - Thirst For Wisdom

Hi Michael... Sure, a lot of the activity that takes place is done behind closed doors. Thinking back over my life growing up in the Bay State, I would agree with that.

Now if JW had a blog, I would surely respond to a post over filling out a survey. Half the time when I fill them out, I feel like I have not shared what I truly felt about the experience, rather simply proving whatever point the surveyor wanted.

mp/m

Re: Tidbit of the Day: Featured on ToddAnd.com

Nice press.. and I didn't know I was having a stogie with a Royko Fellow?!

mp/m

Re: Tidbit of the Day: A new job awaits - The Chicago Tribune!

Congrats Daniel!

mp/m
