I was thoroughly impressed by Liverpool's performance against Pompey yesterday. They did a Manchester United and showed that they can play like potential champions. As I've mentioned before on this blog, the problem is consistency. If they can keep it going like that and pull victories out of the bag they'll be alright.

Hi Paul, DirecTV is your best bet. No matter what happens, you'll be able to get the widest selection of Prem coverage in the States (at a cost, of course). They're the only ones that have Setanta Xtra. Plus you can get Setanta Sports, Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN and GolTV from them, among others.

Many years ago I used to worry about the ignorant Americans and their distaste for soccer. During those times, they controlled the media and newspapers, so the soccer fans were the minority.

With how prevalent the Internet is and the abundance of satellite TV channels showing soccer games, I can afford to ignore the soccer haters. They're no longer in my way, and are laughable.

I feel a bit sorry for Mike Riley on this occasion. It was a difficult match to referee with physical tackles coming in left and right. Riley, on the day, made one mistake. A huge mistake, yes. But how many mistakes did both Liverpool and Chelsea make during the 90 minutes with bad pass after bad pass?

Bosingwa deserved a straight red. I can't believe the assistant referee didn't call Mike Riley's attention on that one.

Congratulations to Liverpool on an excellent performance. It's a shame that they can't play like this week in, week out as it was one of the gutsiest performances I've seen all season in the Premier League. Liverpool poured everything into this one and, based on this one game alone, looked more like champions do than Manchester United this season.

Again, Liverpool's challenge is consistency. They need to keep that same level of performance against lesser opposition.

Chelsea was absolutely terrible against Liverpool. As they were against Manchester United a few weeks ago. It's amazing how poor the team looks under Scolari. Unless he can win the Champions League trophy, his days are numbered.

Django, I try to treat each Premier League team fairly. Giving them stick when they deserve it. And praising them when they do something well. I've written positive and negative pieces on 'Pool this season. There's no agenda. Just honesty.

Sorry if I offended you with the comment. It just seems that, not only on this blog but others, that Liverpool fans are quieter than usual, but I take your point regarding the recent articles regarding the Reds.

Paul, I have to disagree with you that the game would not made that much of a difference for Pompey. They look like relegation material and they need to scrape for every point whether it's against the teams in the upper half or the bottom.

I'm quite fed up of hearing Tony Adams talking about how luck wasn't on his side again. He did it after tonight's loss against Villa. The sooner Adams gets the sack, the better. Otherwise Pompey will be playing Championship football next season. And I'll be sad to see them go.

Hi Simon, I thought the ref handled the Belhadj situation well at Fratton Park. Two deserved yellow cards in my opinion. A terrible night for the Algerian winger, and an absolutely abysmal performance from Pompey in the first half.

My two cents (or is it two pence) is that I can't believe Fulham wouldn't meet Jimmy Bullard's wage demands. It's a huge loss for Fulham and a massive gain for Hull. Bullard is one of the most reliable and hard-working English midfielders in the game.

I disagree with a couple of your estimations. I would put Marlon King in 'The Good' category. I've always rated him. I would put Mido in 'The Bad' category. He may shine for a couple of games, but he's a waste of space. Poor move by Wigan there, I believe. And I also feel that Jermaine Pennant should be moved into 'The Bad' category. It's going to take too long for him to regain his form after not playing for ages for Liverpool.
