For 90 years, the food was great, the service was great, the prices were great, the location was great, and the parking, ambiance and atmosphere were great--in my opinion and many others' opinions. That's why the restaurant lasted for 90 years. And that's why the closure is news. You should always add "in my opinion!" Many thousands of people LOVED Mrs. K's--and many folks thought the food was great.

Re: Mrs. K’s property for lease for first time in 90 years

I broke this story on Tuesday, Dec. 1, and good for Bethesda Beat for following up! Again, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of other, similar large vinyl collections. There are several vinyl record stores throughout the D.C., Baltimore, Western Maryland and Mid-Atlantic regions with similar, largescale vinyl collections, and, again, there are hundreds of private dealers, museums, archives, radio stations and collectors with similar, huge vinyl collections!

Re: On Its 35th Anniversary, Is The 9:30 Club Whitewashing Its History?

You can't base a non-story dumb story on one ignorant person's rant. The 9:30 Club exhibit has items from Chuck Brown, Trouble Funk musicians, Leon Bridges and James Brown--all of whom are, last we checked, black folks!! This is, again, a complete, 100 percent non-story. And, for the record: Most of the acts who have played at the 9:30 through the years are white. That's because the 9:30 club has mainly rock and pop acts, most of whom are white. Thus, most of the acts are white. That is not racist, people! It's reality! You can't base a non-story on one person's ignorant rant.

Re: On Its 35th Anniversary, Is The 9:30 Club Whitewashing Its History?

Simply put: This is a non-story, a non-issue. That's a rare bad moment for Jack. But the analogy fails completely, on every level--journalistically, literally-wise, politically and writing-wise. Let's just scratch that analogy for the record. I--and literally tens of millions of people across the planet--love Journey, Styx and REO Speedwagon, and, today, in 2015, these bands--comprised of very real talented musicians--are indeed still relevant, still viable and still much-loved. In fact, today, in 2015, all three bands are still touring and making people happy. They have absolutely zero to do with an idiot like Palin. Nothing. Not even concerning terrible analogies.

Re: Phase 1, Capitol Hill's Lesbian Bar, Is Reopening Tonight

Everyone posting stupid things here: In the United States of America, anyone can go to any bar in any place that they want to, and no place has the legal right to deny anyone entrance to any place at any time, in circumstances such as a public bar. In terms of Phase 1, in legal terms, if anyone wants to go in there--anyone has the right to go in there. Anyone who has discriminatory and illegal problems with entering, please contact the D.C. government and the U.S. Attorney's Office, as well as the city's ABC; the Corporation Counsel; the D.C. City Counsel (the city's chief lawyer); the D.C. City Council 9the legislative body); the regulations and permitting office for the city government (the bar can have its license and permits revoked if it is practicing illegal discrimination and illegally denying entrance to people); and the Police Department, and officials will look into it. As for going to a public bar--anyone can go any time they want to go. If forty straight men want to go inside Phase 1 and have a drink, then forty straight men legally have the right to go into Phase 1 and have a drink. If anyone has a problem with that, then the official government authorities mentioned above are only a phone call away. Discrimination has zero place in Washington, D.C., bars and restaurants. And, for the record: 1. The ATF does do a lot of good to fight extremism, gun nuts, crazies, psychos, criminals, thugs, far right morons, far right idiots, gun psychos, gunrunners, and other criminals. 2. The ATF works to fight illegal, criminal activity. You crazy far-righters understand that, right? 3. The Obama administration is literally NOT on any crusade to ban "all ammunition"--just a stupid, stupid, stupid statement. And untrue. 4. The Justice Department, of course, does not practice "sharia" law--how completely stupid is that statement? It's stupid. 5. These stupid, ignorant, far-right gun-nut psycho moronic and idiotic statements further show just how much we need the ATF, how well the Justice Department is doing its job, how moronic these far-right gun nuts are, and how well we need to ban certain armor-piercing ammunition and automatic weapons. 6. And if you protest David Mitchell--you surely have zero idea what the hell you are talking about. Dave Mitchell is one of the best, literally, law enforcement officials in the state of Maryland and in the region. There is zero reason to protest Dave Mitchell--or his department. Also, people today need to read the very-detailed grand jury testimony in the Ferguson case--read the testimony by the officer, by the FBI agent in the case, and by others--and you'll see that the kid in the case was no angel, that he clearly attacked the officer, that the officer's life was in danger, that the officer acted in self-defense, that the kid was not shot in the back, and that the officer clearly acted in a legal manner to save his life. There's really no reason to have a protest or march on Maryland's campus--just none.

Re:

That's why the restaurant has succeeded at such a high level for 25 to 30 years. It's also affordable. Don't judge a restaurant by its quality if you haven't even tried it out--that's just moronic. Ratsie's is a good place, with good food, and it's affordable. And it's not closing because of competition from other pizza places. Ratsie's actually does very well. Ratsie's is closing--the owner is keeping the building, which he owns--and the owner is simply renting out the space to a national chain. So the owner is just retiring from running a restaurant seven days a week, to lease his own space to a national chain.

Re:

The leadership at Maryland right now is just about at the lowest point in a long time. It's time for Loh to go. This is just another dumb move at the school--no college student should be told what to wear for a career fair, no one should have to wear "matching" clothes, there should be no one turned away from a career fair, and guess what--this entire asinine, stupid thing with a dress code is so far out of line with today's reality, it's laughable. Today, literally the biggest, most successful companies in the United States--do not have dress codes, do not have suit requirements, do not tell their employees what to wear, and they have extremely relaxed dress codes. This is true, and this is the reality. Additionally, literally millions of people are telecommuting and working from home today--so there's no need for a dress code. Additionally, many college students don't even have a suit in their dorm rooms--for four years at college, I never, ever, for one minute, had a suit in my dorm room. Never. The business school needs to rethink this stupid policy quickly--as in, today. And no more dress codes--and no more turning college kids away from a career fair. Gawd almighty, folks--get a grip on reality here.

Re: Ben Affleck will be a great Batman, Adam West says

Who cares? His speeches, legislation and work in the Senate is real, factual, successful--and incredibly smart.
Joe Biden is also shaping up to be one of our better Vice Presidents--an experienced, knowledgable, educated, informed and intelligent Vice President, in the solid, intelligent mold of Al Gore, who is also one of history's better Vice Presidents.
Joe Biden is not "dumb" on any level. None. Zero. Zilch. The reason is that taxpayers are paying for this--and taxpayers should NOT be paying for some completely moronic, dumb, stupid, unneeded, wasteful and boondoggle U.S. Senate gym. Why? Because that is a moronic, dumb, stupid use of public, taxpayer money. We are not supposed to be paying for perks and priviledges of U.S. Senators and Representatives--we're just not. In fact--fact, meaning this should be law--taxpayers should NOT be paying for special, exclusive perks for members of Congress. No special stores. No special perks. No receptions, parties or entirely wasteful p.r. stunts and gimmicks. No specialized gizmos and gadgets to be handed out. No exclusive travel overseas. No specialized gyms or other types of services. Why? Because this type of crap is wasteful, and unneeded--and moronic. If a Senator or Representative wants to go to a gym--then sign up, pay, and go to a public gym like everyone else. The only thing for members of Congress that should exist on Capitol Hill is a cafeteria--because people do need to eat. And that should be as bare-bones, normal, and non-fancy and reasonably priced as possible. And--it should be open to the public. This odd pedestal-building of government reps should never have occurred, and it should not be there now. Senators and representatives are simply people, and they should be going to work in the same way as everyone else--and they should be going to gyms out in the real world, just like everyone else. The Senate gym should be closed, shut down, effective immediately.

Re: Bonus Quote of the Day

This ignorant, redneck doofus is literally wrong First, of course, it's not discrimination on any legal level. Second, there is literally NO religious aspect to marriage being between a man and woman--none. That is because a man can marry a man and a woman can marry a woman if they want--that is all there is to it. They are people, and if they want to get married, they can get married. It's really that simple. As for gays, there is no--NONE--religious aspect that specifically, actually states that homosexuality is wrong or a sin or anything else zealots inaccurately claim. None. Do the research--it's just not there. As for gay marriage, it is already legal, on paper, in several jurisdictions and countries, and more are coming. As for gays and religion, there just happen to be hundreds of gay rabbis, priests, fathers, pastors and other religious leaders throughout the United States, and across the world. Ask them about gays and religion. Because many are based on unreliable numbers, because many are full of stupid and biased questions, because the people taking the polls and surveys are not accurately representative of anything, because some are corrupt, because many are full of inconsistencies and inaccuracies, and because this entire cottage industry is corrupt, literally corrupt. No one should be basing anything on any so-called "poll" or "survey." That is reality.
