You raise a great point Fit. The Republican party did (and still does) refer to Arlen Specter as "Benedict Arlen".

In fact, I think there is a contributor to this very site who refers to him in that manner... although lately he is nowhere to be found. =)

Also, as far as KO's rant is concerned, he has the premise wrong...again. Conservatives don't gripe about not having any media presence, they gripe about not having any mainstream media presence. Just as he lists all the conservative commentators who don't pretend that they are anything but conservative, I can list a bunch of liberal reporters with liberal bias in their reporting (which you seem to agree with): Katie Couric, Dan Rather, Brian Williams, Tom Brokaw, even all the way back to Walter Cronkite, at least. These people DO pretend that they are unbiased, and that's where the difference is.

If it was ratings that got rewarded, he would have received more than astonishment for his Scaring to Death special. And, I could be wrong, but I don't think people eating bugs won any awards.

You make several great points cubbie, and I wish that people would do their own investigating and decision making.

But, to your point about Olby's rant, I don't think that his point was/is quite the same as mine. As I understood it, Olbermann is saying that there is definitely a conservative voice in the media (as he aptly reiterates nearly 742 times). My point is parallel to that, but expands to include all media.

As far as the Stossel angle is concerned, I think that it is not liberalism that is 'rewarded' by the mainstream media -- rather it is ratings that are rewarded.

If watching people eat bugs got ratings, then shows that feature that would get more attention.

Oh, wait...

Abso-friggin'-lutely. I like both Howard and Cheadle -- so I can go either way. But the War Machine is a great storyline and should make for an awesome movie.

Hi Alexandra! I agree that we should let Tiger work out his personal stuff. The only reason I ever favor this type of coverage is when it is an individual who exhibits blatant hypocrisy (for example, a minister who preaches about the evils of infidelity and then participates in an extramarital affair). This is why I am a bit hesitant to post these things about Woods...

I do see your point -- but the same could be said for those Evangelical pastors who claim to be able to heal folks by simply shoving them on the forehead. Granted, the parishioners are not required to pay for the 'service' provided, but I would venture a guess that many of them do donate money.

Anyway, I posted this because I thought it was an interesting story. Nobody is getting hurt by what Mr. Centre is doing. Nobody is being forced or coerced into giving him money. He has made it very clear that he does not believe in the Rapture, so I don't see where he is 'conning' anyone. He is simply taking advantage of a market demographic that does believe that the Rapture will happen -- and wants someone to take care of their pet.

Whether or not you agree with his business practices is beside the point -- he has a right to provide his 'service' to Christians the same way that we have a right to provide religious programs to 'save' atheists.
