Like it! I could see this being expanded to :
1. Check-SMB <fileserver> => check to see how SMB is configured on a server. SMB1, 2, 3? SMB signing? SMB ecryption.
2. Check DNS <dnsserver> => check to see how DNS is configured. Is Edns turned on. Is DNSSec implemented? if Zones are in AD, what to the ACLs look like (anything curious>

Also, how about a -FixIssues parameter that allowed you to fix an issue (eg: smb1 turned in -FixIssue SMB1 would just turn SMB1 off on the server.

OK- made progress. I can easily download the file, like so:

# Get the VPN Package
$wc = new-object System.Net.WebClient
$wc.DownloadFile($URL,'C:\FOO\UCDAYVPN.EXE')

That 2nd line is used to strip off the quote characters that is returned from Get-AzureRmVpnClientPackage. I am not sure why it does that, or why the comdlet doesn't just get the package. But another step.

I can run the downloaded file - in this case: UCDAYVPN.EXE, but can't run it silently. The help text suggests /q, but running the package with the /Q switch gives a pop up error. I can run it with UI, however. The only issue then - I can't use rasdial to start the VPN connection. I can connect using the GUI IN Settings, and rasadial <vpn name=""> /DISCONNECT works.

I've got this working down till getting the URL for the RM VPN client package. I can get the URL, but now can I get the download programatically?

And having downloaded it, how do I load the VPN client onto the machine - what is the slient install?

And once installed, can, I use rasdial to get to the VPN?

I want to do an end to end here but all in PowerShell

I know how to do it - but the MSDN page, I think, has an error. The type shown is not correct. Instead, the cmdlet suggests the type is: <list[psvirtualnetworkgatewayipconfiguration]>] . However, when I use the command in anger, the configuration object (which works!) is of type: Microsoft.Azure.Commands.Network.Models.PSVirtualNetworkGatewayIpConfiguration. The documentation is in error.

ON the page: https://msdn.microsoft.com/..., it says that the IPConfigurations variable is of type:
<system.collections.generic.list`1[[microsoft.azure.commands.network.models.psvirtualnetworkgatewayipconfiguration, microsoft.azure.commands.ne...,="" version="0.10.1.0," culture="neutral," publickeytoken="31bf3856ad364e35]]"> yet, in the example, the type is:
Microsoft.Azure.Commands.Network.Models.PSVirtualNetworkGatewayIpConfiguration

Is this an erorr, or is this just a by product of the automation?

You need certificates - for the purposes of this walk through, it seems to me to be reasonable to enable the creation of testing certs. In the real world, you would use your own corporate CA to issue user certs - and you could use the same techniques shown here to upload them.

This is awesome and, to me, really underlines the value of big data in the cloud. TW is doing something that, with a 5-year time to insight simply would not be done. However, for a company like TW, being able to get results like this at that price - it just makes Azure even more compelling.
I am going to be mentioning this case study to my cusgtomers!

Yiding - thanks for the reply, but it did not answer the question. Can you please provide a rough costing for this exercise. Did it cost $10? Did it cost $10,000, or did it cost $10m? I have clients who want to be able to put the value into the context of cost to insight. Can you at least provide a ball park costing?
