I've had many amazing meals (Uchi in Austin, French Laundry in Napa, Jean Georges in NY...) so this is a tough question! But when pondering this question I tended to cherish the less grand meals and recalled my experience of lamb tagine at Restaurant 404 in Paris. Hey, I was in Paris, the food was sublime and atmosphere out of this world (festive, warm, communal). The place is small on a little street at the northern border of Le Marais, past the Pompidou. i have taken this "plunge" and am so glad i did it... and i'd do it again even but after i did experience it, i renamed the activity sky falling. you are falling, sometimes free falling and sometimes falling with a chute. you feel gravity like never before. even the speed in which you leave the plane (and even more so seeing someone else leave the plane!). its an intensity i didn't anticipate. and thats why id wanna try it again. to do it KNOWING these very basic aspects of the activity. we are heavily evolved, earth-bound creatures! ;-)

cooking, reading, yoga. but im very aware that these examples tap into an internal sense of freedom. lately, more and more, i have been considering ways that my body can move though space. since moving from nyc, walking has waned from my daily experience, i need to find a new creative way to move. nia? african dance? or just dancing to music at home? stay tuned...

"Einstein's Dreams" by Alan Lightman. It but a wee book, but so poetic and wise. I think having to visit it over and over again would be a delight.

in my relationships, all of them (parent, partner, in business too!) when i can choose to connect or be correct, i always want the former, but sometimes go with the later. this year is all about CONNECTING and CONNECTION!

I am going to get more comfortable when other people speak about God/god G-d. Specifically in a non-yoga context. My knee jerk reaction is to recoil when someone says that 3 letter word, even though I am spiritual?! I am going to stretch my mind and release the cob webs that surround the word and reach for the essence of what is being communicated.

To honor my turning 40 years old, I ventured on an all women, all beginners, surf safari in Sayulita, Mexico. Everything else this year unfolded as a metaphor from that experience. I balanced life as best I could, from the core. I laughed... and cried along the way, surrounded by a community that I noticed and allowed to cheer me on!

yes, yes, yes to all the above and below. might i add, the act of creation/creativity in all its manifestations gives me hope. from understanding the complexity of universe, procreation and birth, to the wondrous balance it takes to create sentient (and non-sentient) beings. ALSO the seemingly frivolous creative acts we humans embark on in our lives. creating a home, a sculpture, a dinner party... i feel hopeful when participating and meditating on these things.

The intimacy in the relationships we make. As a woman, I feel like I can safely, spiritedly, vulnerably, dive-in... and really get into it with "my girls". This is probably a result of societal mores, but these shared understandings about behaviour I believe are inspired by what is essential: our desire to cultivate connection.
