What about St. Michael's? I've never been for fear that it is too far/crowded/too much traffic. I know these aren't good excuses but would love for someone to dispel them. Anyone been? How long does it take to get there from Frederick? Is it worth going?

Baltimore is great - check out the National Aquarium as mentioned. Once you are there you'll find lots of other things like the Maryland Science Center, ESPN Zone, ball parks, etc.

Do you like chocolate and/or a great amusement park? Hershey Park isn't that far away.

I think this is an incredibly noble undertaking. I honestly don't know how Frederick would receive it. It would be interesting to see. I bet it would be a sure thing in Baltimore or DC.

I was wondering if your new group would consider Wags for Hope as one of your beneficiaries. We are an all volunteer (501(c)3) organization based in the Frederick area. We take our pets out to nursing homes and assisted living facilities among other places. (Please see www.wagsforhope.org) We are looking for funding specifically for the new program we are building. It involves placing at risk shelter animals with seniors living at home alone. We will subsidize some of the the care and feeding if necessary.
