I don't think the turning-off problem is the color wheel. That's more likely the ballast. Another DIY project!

To be clear, you didn't break the connector off the DMD board, just bent the pins inside it so you couldn't get thew new plug in there?

We primarily communicate via GMail's integration with Voice now since our
iPhones are becoming worse and worse at actually allowing for voice/txt
communications.

I took her to the local Vz store the day the Droid came out and have been
pushing hard since... will keep you posted!

Critical? How about honest. I posted a rave about it previously, and I wanted to balance that with the fact that the honeymoon will be over for EVERYONE who buys any new device.

Maybe you're getting too caught up in my title, but I really haven't said anything truly critical here. I'm still leaning toward keeping it, which says a lot given the expense that will be with AT&T contracts and such.

I know it's not an iPhone, and I love it for all its non-iPhone-ness. And I do love Android. But I've been using an iPhone since it appeared on the scene, as have millions of others, and we can't help compare them. They MUST be compared.

I would have bet money that you'd have picked up a Droid by now, especially knowing your challenges with the AT&T network down there in the backwoods and mountains.

The iPhone has several barcode scanners though I haven't tried them all.
The one that I've enjoyed using with is Red Laser. I haven't located one in the Android Marketplace yet. What's it called?

It does take getting used to for sure.

I also find lots of little things that I love about it (since I didn't read the manual, these are as I discover them.) For example, there's a little green blinking light that tells you that there's a notification (email, tweet, chat, etc.)

Cool stuff.

I agree with Geno -- the way I understand the FTC, the advertiser/merchant does bear responsibility, also. I'm leaving that to Amazon -- I know I disclose when I post the links.

You can customize the tweet, Eric. -- I've changed it every time I've done it and added a disclosure statement of some kind.

Thanks for the question, Geno! I guess I should have been more specific about what the button actually does. It automatically shortens the affiliate link to a bit.ly link, but there is no disclosure. Amazon leaves that up to you. I pretty much take responsibility for that, anyway.

That's OK, Nathan -- you could have done what I did -- have the Twitter name on the card and then change your Twitter name right before leaving for the conference, not realizing that it's still the old name on the cards. Big time FAIL! :) Oh well, I have had my Twitter name on my card for a while and will continue to do so -- just need to be sure it's the right one. :)

Thanks for the comment, Andrew! What are your thoughts on the Flip alternatives, such as the Kodak and RCA Small Wonder? Not as portable?

They both have external memory, something that appeals to me, but they are a bit bigger.

Thanks, Jay! I appreciate input from someone with your expertise! I agree, Tim Jones is generic -- and that was something Ted actually mentioned in his presentation -- "if your name is John Doe" (or Tim Jones, in my case :) ), "then you should probably use a persona."

The work involved could be monumental, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.
