hi Lorriane - the photo in the banner is one of Jackie Murray's collection - you'll find loads more of Jackies photos at right hand side link. i believe the 3 girls are jennifer, shona, kirsty.

i think you'll also find photos of Fish and Alan among Jackies' photos

also, i thought his recordings were a bit poppy but he comes off a lot better playing his stuff live.

i'm up in Glasgow for Hogmany - just heard my wee 14 year old nephew and his mates all want to be Mods now!

Just to add, once again - if any of the kids out there (who are the real mods) want to add anything to this site you are more than welcome...we are just keeping the flame burning - it's down to you lot to 'set the house ablaze' once again!

Mods who dont like Motown?!? Must be in some parallel Universe where everything is opposite!

I've got those 2 Motown '20 Mod Classics' albums and they are 100% mod classics from start to finish.

the style and class of motown is absolutely the perfect accompanyment to mod - add to that the raw energy and teen angst of the Who, Kinks, Small Faces (and the Jam) and youv'e got the complete picture of what mod is all about - you dont need to read up about it, or research it on the internet - just listen to that music an' you've got it!

I would be absolutely amazed if the 'cool Kev' tag was not done with large heaps of irony. I never met anyone who felt he was actually cool. But I did know a lot who felt he was the polar opposite. Maybe it was self penned Li Li !

Does anybody know how he got the nickname? Was it just for a joke?

I can't even remember what he looked like as a mod - i can only ever recall seeing him with his blond flat-top and some kind of scooter gear on.

Is he in fact a DJ now? I do remember him Dj'ing in some clubs in Glasgow in the late 80's. I guess he was a bit aloof although, in his favour, i would add that he never pretended that he didn't know us on the occasions I did see him.

Great comments Scooterrab - it was just like you say - if you were a Mod in Glasgow you were one of us whatever school you went to - and the bandstand was the starting off point for many an adventure...

I know exactly what you mean Stevie. The end of 1980 saw PW go through a bit of a crap shirt stage. He also had a horrible paisley pattern one he wore about the same time.

Twee scene Stevie?? I agree they are far from Mod, but if you listen to a song like "Legal Man", there are soooooooooooooo many 6t's influences running through there work, that I think it is a credit that the cool music we all love still continues to inspire todays musicians, look at Duffy and the Last Shawdow Puppets afterall !
