All the ads for VR companies are for VR engineers and NO VR experience designers. VR is beginning to stall and I suspect that if people's first taste of it as tries to be even more mainstream will have them abandon it like they did in the 90's.

Re: How to Build a Get Home Bag

Great article. I too experienced Snowmageddon in DC a few years ago and live in Boston now where we had 7 feet in six weeks. A few examples but getting stranded is no fun. My other real concerns are a cyber attack on the grid and being far away is a real issue for me. Most articles talk about waking the commute home. I would love to get your thoughts on real GHB planning for those of us who travel frequently via airplane. True it is far and books like Going Home and Borrowed World try and deal with it but that is fiction and well, fiction. I saw one of the comments from a trucker who deals with similar security issues. Maybe you could poll your readers if they travel like that and what they have, especially for protection and self-defense. Thanks!

Re: Pennsylvania couple faces homicide charges in 9-year-old autistic son’s death

"Police said four children from her first marriage were taken away by the courts, and that young Jarrod and five other children in the house were from her marriage to Tutko." It is a visual guidebook filled with interviews, case studies and infographics that covers the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. It will be out in the fall of 2014. This panel is so important to the new wave global entrepreneurship taking hold. We will discuss research from the book and with our panelists and the audience spark valuable conversations about what it takes to truly succeed.

Re: Speaking at TEDx Peachtree: Become the Vessel

Geoff, Jill coached me and because of her I was able to give my first keynote two weeks ago and will be keynoting again in London thanks to Jill's awesome focus and wisdom. It is hard to believe it has been nine years since it all happened. The story of that day I don't share with many. There are many stories of people that were supposed to be in those towers or on those planes but for some reason were not - missed flights, riding the elevator down to run an errand, stuck in traffic, etc. Mine was one of sleeping in. At the time my company had an office at 66 Wall St. and I went up once or twice a month to meet with clients and work with our technology partner based in the city. There was a financial technology security conference that was scheduled for that day at Windows on the World. I was supposed to attend with my New York colleagues but when they decided to skip the morning I was happy I didn't have to get up at 5am and catch the train to Penn Station. When I woke up around 8am, I got showered and dressed like the rest of the world and was in a Starbucks here in Maryland at 8:45am. When I got into the office in downtown Baltimore about 9:10am I heard what happened. I thought it was a prank but people were listening to the radio and trying to use the Internet (which was brought to its knees) to find out more information.

After about 20 minutes of trying to find a TV we walked up to the corner bar which had opened its doors and people were all together. The scene reminded me of those black and white photos of people huddled around the radio on Dec 7 in taverns around America. All I could think about were the people I knew up on the top floor. When the tower collapsed my heart broke.

We all knew that day would change us and for many of us awoke a national pride and an interest in things around us than just having fun living in the dotcom bubble which had just burst.

I saw it as God sending me a message. To live my life and not put off the things I had wanted to do. I had a second chance, now don't waste it. Because of the dotcom bust and 9/11, most of my business collapsed and I had to lay everyone off. I closed the NY office and the Baltimore office, sold my house in Maryland and took the clients I still had and moved to San Francisco. I lived there for a few years and while I now I am back on the east coast I am glad I did it. These days my life is more balanced, I am closer to my family and my God. I am truly blessed with what has been given to me and I look forward to the next decade.

We all have second chances. We just need to believe it.

As for the anniversary, I still haven't been to the site yet. Maybe next year when they dedicate the memorial.

-Steve

Re: Fans Keep The Legend Of Firefly Alive

Thanks for your kind words and coverage of our film.
