After line 18 where we collect all tasks completed today, we add your line to define the containing folder:

var folder = doc.flattenedFolders.whose({name: {'=':'Role — Family'}})()[0];

Then we just change line 34 so that instead of grabbing all the projects, we just grab the ones that are in our folder(s):

var allProjects = folder.flattenedProjects();

I'm still a JavaScript newb obviously, but if I am understanding the changes I made, we are still grabbing all of the tasks completed today, but then further down we are only reporting on the tasks that are contained in the folder we want.

Re: Logging the OmniFocus Tasks You Did Today

It looks like you can't ask a folder directly for its tasks (which jibes with my memory of working with OmniFocus and AppleScript)... I suspect I will have to pull the projects from the folder and then loop through those projects to get completed tasks. Looks like I finally have some incentive to start learning JavaScript. Thanks Colter!

Re: Logging the OmniFocus Tasks You Did Today

Thanks for this! I'm new to JavaScript, is there a way to limit this so it only pulls tasks/projects from a particular folder in OmniFocus?

Re: Drafts Directory: Action: Due - Tomorrow morning

I know this is a bit old but just in case--I just posted a modified version that sets the due date to 7:30pm the same day: https://drafts4-actions.agi...

Re: Drafts Directory: Action: Due - Tonight

This is a slight modification of "Due - Tomorrow morning" by @itrvd. Looks like I didn't modify the description, it will set the task in Due to be due at 7:30pm the same day--I use it a lot for stuff I want to remember to do after I put the kids to bed.

Re: Economists Favor Obama By Overwhelming Margin

It should be noted that The Economist is not a journal of economics but a British news magazine that is generally known to be politically liberal. No, not all media is "the liberal media" but some of it is, and The Economist actually identifies itself as a liberal publication (which I think is great; I'm extremely skeptical of the entire idea of "objectivity" and I wish all publications would just be upfront about what their biases are).

This is about as worthy of being "air dropped into battleground states" as a survey of people who support McCain being published by The Weekly Standard would be.

Re: Sarah Palin’s Alaskonomics - TIME

Another perspective, from the Wall Street Journal:

http://online.wsj.com/artic...

Re: Alaskans Speak (In A Frightened Whisper): Palin Is “Racist, Sexist, Vindictive, And Mean.” | The LA Progressive

OMG. But that just doesn't seem to be how either side is willing to play it.

I continue to be impressed by Obama's class, but the media and the rest of the Democratic party have been absolutely vicious to Sarah Palin over the last few days and it's hard to blame her for getting a few jabs in. I'd rather she do that than cry and play the victim, no one respects that.

Re: PALIN VET DEFENDED

The quote you are referring to:

"As for that VP talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I'm used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we're trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question."

The VP's only official job description is to be president of the Senate (essentially consisting of waiting around in case there's a tie vote that needs to be broken) while waiting around in case the president dies or becomes incapacitated. Other than that, the VP's job is whatever the current president delegates to him or her. Sometimes that's virtually nothing (e.g. Truman, who was kept completely in the dark about such things as the Manhattan Project until after FDR died) or maybe a little too much (e.g. Dick Cheney, pretty much the most powerful VP ever).

I don't think it's so much that Gov. Palin "doesn't even know what a VP does" as it is that she only wants to be VP if the president she serves under is willing to give her some worthwhile things to do.

Make sure and watch her speech tonight, I think America's going to be impressed.

Re: Why McCain Picked Palin - TIME

I love this choice and I'm finally excited about this election.

I actually HOPE the whole "experience" argument is put on the back burner. I thought the argument was stupid when Hillary used it against Obama and I think it's a waste of time for McCain to harp on it now.

Some nebulous concept of being "ready" to be president is not nearly as relevant as what a particular candidate intends to do when they get there, and I hope that from here until November the candidates will focus on the issues instead of who is "ready".

I like Obama an awful lot, I trust that he genuinely wants to do what is right for the country; I just happen to disagree with him in a lot of ways on how to get there. I wasn't that excited about voting for McCain, but his pick of Palin makes me much more excited. I didn't know she existed before this morning, but everything I've seen so far I like. Not to sound morbid, but McCain is 72 and there is a good chance that his VP would be called upon to take over the reins during his term or would at least get the chance to run in 2012. I'm glad to see my party shake things up a bit, move away from the Bush family and stop handing nominations to whatever Old White Dude is next in line.

Re: How McCain Could Pick a Pro-Choice VP

Oh yeah, the maverick thing... just for show if you ask me.

But yes, I absolutely would love to see the abortion debate divorced from political parties.

Re: How McCain Could Pick a Pro-Choice VP

McCain has absolutely nothing to gain by picking a pro-choice running mate (sounds like you'd agree with that, Dan, since you want him to do it. ;) ). There aren't that many people out there who are pro-choice but anti-Obama, but plenty of people are looking for proof that McCain is the conservative that he says he is and he isn't going to satisfy them by pandering to the left.
