If there was any way I would want to demonstrate to a liberal the extreme liberal bias of the MSM, this short blog entry would be my prize entry. The utter disproportionality of the reporting (or lack thereof) of what Mark Steyn said carefully on one radio show and what Van Jones has said over many years tells any one with an objective hearing apparatus that our country has been taken over by the most vile partisan press you could have imagined. When I was a liberal prior to 9/11, I believed all of these summations and assertions of the press. Now I see this behavior for the vile unprincipled slander of conservatives that it is -- just disgusting.

I went to a tea party in Olympia with nearly 1000 others on 9-12. Today, I have just come from a breakfast get together today in the Seattle area of people who often spoke of having never been politically active in their lives and are now realizing that they are in fact on the Conservative side of the spectrum and willing to fight the current leftward lurch of the country. Social issues were a minor factor for this group. Preserving the liberty promised in our Constitution, and exposing the cancerous corruption of the Left -- the thugocracy -- is what seems to be foremost in people's minds. This is what is firing people up.

I love how arrogant liberals are always telling us what we don't see. Hey, Lib: I used to be one of you. I used to demonize and slander Republicans and Conservatives with the same zeal. And you know what? When I woke up to the delusion fed by the dominant media I started seeing that it was Liberalism that was the most intolerant and most bigoted view. If Sarah Palin or George Bush had said Lincoln was the Founder of the Republican Party, I know that all the liberals here would remark how dumb she oe he is. But Obama gets a pass. I wonder why. I used to be a liberal; then I realized the load of horse manure the press constantly sold as truth and I moved on. Now I vote for those evil dumb Republicans. It took years to shake off the media and cultural conditioning -- it ran so deep. I became a Tea Party participant and the only racism I've ever witnessed was from the Larouche nut cases who glommed onto the periphery of our events. Liberals generally run on their feelings instead of the facts of the matter and their only defense usually is calling conservatives and Republicans names. I blame our present state mostly on the media. Obama would never have gotten close to the White House if they treated him with 1/10 the vetting they treat Republicans; today think Solyndra; think of the Arms running scheme of the ATF-FBI; think of all of the union violence that goes unreported by the press -- and you see an outrageous pattern of retreat from the media.

The article's subheading is a gross and misleading distortion. To emulate connotes admiration. We Tea Partiers don't emulate Alinsky. Some of Alinsky's tactics are simply unethical and mean. We do try to be aware of his teachings and tactics so as to be able to defend ourselves - and country - against his devotees. Know your enemy, does not mean emulating him. More media bias on display.

Diversity: should I accept human sacrifice because some cultures practice it? Should I accept female genital mutilation because some cultures practice it? Diversity today means putting blinders on so as to not rock the 'nice' boat, regardless of other consequences. The religion of (false) 'niceness' has become the state religion. What is the difference between telling people you can't condemn adultery because we need to be nice to the adulterers and teaching that sex outside traditional marriage in okay because you might hurt someone's feelings? How about the Christian's devotion to their faith? Why don't their feelings matter ? And they have a lot more logical, theological, and historical evidence to back up their beliefs. Using the logical method of argumentum ad absurdum works well with the diversity meme. It's plainly false.

Besides paying for 80% of channels you couldn't care less about, TV viewing itself is so irritating today with in-show commercials splattering across the screen while a program is running. How rude. I remember in the mid 1970's all of the talk of Pay TV before cable came to be: you would supposedly pay a subscription price and get no commercials. Right; that really worked out. Today, you not only pay for the commercials you see in the breaks just like old time TV - and there are more -- but even for the commercials while the show is running - and these are getting more intrusive over time. These companies have no shame, no ethics, no sense of service, and no class.

I used to be a liberal and became a conservative. I overlooked a lot of liberal hypocrisy and fully believed the demonization of the Republicans by the press. It's easy to manipulate people who believe what they read or hear, especially when repeated often. But when you wake up out of the propaganda and just start listening to the other side you realize you have been fully brainwashed most of your life. It's infuriating and sad at the same time. You realize you hated straw men Republicans and through that filter you applied it to all Republicans Instead of ideas you had been reacting to marketing. This psychologist is another pseudoscience fool that the Left loves, because he reinforces their prejudices. Conservatives I know are the very opposite of authoritarian lovers. It's the very opposite: free markets, free, responsible actions of individuals. Read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg to see the true history of Progressivism.

I was a hardcore Liberal for most of my life and I agree with you that liberals make all sorts of judgements against nonexistent straw men conservatives and hardly ever engage in real debate with facts and real arguments. Closed-mindedness and a holier than thou mentality is the sine qua non of Liberalism (aka Progressivism). They even sponsor pseudoscientific psychological studies to prove their defacto superiority. Why would they ever listen to those they deem as defective? It's beneath them to actually argue on facts and not with ad hominem attacks. They feel something, others like themselves agree, so it must be real.
