Although Depor lost 2-0 to Brann, Seville beat Salzburg 2-0 and Valencia beat Marítimo 1-0. I was a little disappointed to see that Racing won 2-0 against Honka Espoo, because with a name like that I'd have like to see them reach the final stages. I can see it now Honka Espoo v. Barcelona in next year's European SuperCup.

Good results from the Spanish teams (except one) last night, which means more football on telly and better conversations down the bar!

Barça one-nil up at half-time. If this Barça that I love had any idea about tactics, they'd move the midfield back 5 metres and wait for Lisboa to make a mistake - Messi finds space, knocks across the box for Henry who's lays it off for Iniesta or Xavi that have run into the space created by an earlier dummy run from Eto'o. We'd slaughter them. However, the Barça I love will always be prone to exhuberant displays of attacking football. So Lisboa will equalise 20 minutes into the second half, and Barça will win in the 89th minute with a header from Puyol or new boy (watch out for him) Piqué. That's life!

Good Choice! It's great when the underdog does well, even though they lose. Los Pajaritos Stadium holds less than thousand. Not enough money for foreign players. Some of the have played in Tercera. Pure Magic!

PS Sporting deserve some moral support as well!

Group H looks like a very tough group to me, which being a Barça fan quite pleases me. RM and Juve for starters plus Zenit who are on roll after beating ManU in the Super Cup.

Barça 1 Racing 1. A depressing result and a poor performance. But things made a lot more sense than against Numancia. So I´m disappointed but there are reasons for optimism.

I'm watching Sevilla v Sporting at the moment. Sevilla really should come away with the points.

I think Maradonna, despite his footballing brilliance, often talks a lot of rubbish. Furthermore, Kun Agüero has recently become his son-in-law, so obviously when he criticises Messi, he's expressing his own bias.

We're suffering from another one of our typical bouts of lack of self-confidence here in Barcelona. The team simply didn't gel against Numancia. We didn't lose because of lack of effort but because of technical flaws - the positioning was all over the place, for God's sake. This worries me. Because Racing are no pushover. They finished sixth last year and are playing UEFA this year. Well done, Racing - that's what I say. You deserve our utmost respect.
