It is too bad that politicians continue to exempt themselves from Do Not Call law.

I love the attention these press releases get from the MSM. The only thing missing is the actual robo call audio. Mostly, these announcements are put out there for the press to repeat, with little evidence that the NRCC (or whomever) is actually doing the actions that they state they are.

Next time, demand that the NRCC provide the audio file for robo calls, the video for TV and exactly who they are targetting.

Seesmic's new AIR application may be a TweetDeck killer. The ability to have multiple Twitter accounts and unlimited windows / columns is very cool.

My killer app, however, is HootSuite.

Great post. Yes, you are right. Most of politics is about shouting to constituents "vote for me" (but I don't really care what you think or who you are - unless you have $10k).

There are few politicians that use any communication tool for more than another Public Relations Channel.

Anyone know of one?

Great post and on target. However, this is really Marketing 101. That is marketing (brand managers, product managers) are all about the problems that their products / services solve for their customers and segments.

Serious marketers don't spend time with influencers, unless, and this is important, doing so drives the metrics that they are accountable for (revenue, profit, margin, growth targets, customer sat) etc..

Who are you selling to?
Where are they?
What problems / pain ponts are you solving?
What messages resonate with them?

Robocalls don't work. Looks like McCain is wasting his $. According to the only legitimate data analysis (Green and Gerber, Yale) Robo calls have a perfect record for never having worked.

We are fighting back and developing a Political Do Not Contact Registry - non-profit and non-partisan.

We are also creating a database of all robo calls this cycle on our blog.
