Blount was not using drugs or drinking, he did not injure anyone. If you look at other punishments given out for other transgressions, a 2 month (which is what this would be if he came back Nov 7 ) suspension is more than adequate. He made a terrible mistake, but a year long suspension affects his future career significantly. This gives him the chance to still have that career, while still paying a significant price for his stupidity. Civil rights for all will be set back decades, which is exactly what they want. Not only will they shut down Roe v Wade, any states with assisted suicide will be challenged. Just how far the Supreme Court will intrude into the most personal of private decisions is not known, but I supect the intrusion will be steep.
