Blount was not using drugs or drinking, he did not injure anyone. If you look at other punishments given out for other transgressions, a 2 month (which is what this would be if he came back Nov 7 ) suspension is more than adequate. He made a terrible mistake, but a year long suspension affects his future career significantly. This gives him the chance to still have that career, while still paying a significant price for his stupidity. I applaud the coach's decision, and I also applaud Blount for doing the right things after his screw-up.

Re: Hatch, With a ‘Heavy Heart,’ Will Vote No on Sotomayor

Right, Orrin, the only nominee you can agree to is a Republican nominee, one who shares your values. If you look at Sotomayor's record for 17 years, she is totally mainstream. Your heavy heart words and I wish he would have nominated a different Hispanic are pure bunk. You would have confirmed Alberto Gonzales or someone along his lines. Shame on you.

Re: McCain’s Supreme Court: The Change We Don’t Need

Stopping our culture from it's citizens committing suicide, sticking scissors in the heads defenseless babies, and hiring/enrolling based purely on gender or race, doesn't seem that bad from here.

Re: Obama campaign files suit over foreclosure lists

If you can't win it the right way, do whatever it takes to cheat, steal, anything as long as they get what they want.So what else is new about the GOP?

Re: McCain’s Supreme Court: The Change We Don’t Need

Under a mccain Supreme Court, the average joes, the little people will lose big time. ?The clear winners will be the radical right and big business, the wealthy , and men, white men mainly, but men. Civil rights for all will be set back decades, which is exactly what they want. Not only will they shut down Roe v Wade, any states with assisted suicide will be challenged. Just how far the Supreme Court will intrude into the most personal of private decisions is not known, but I supect the intrusion will be steep. As long as your morals align with the right, and you have plenty of money, you will probably be happy.

Re: McCain Camp Responds On Palin’s Russia and Iran Positions

Who is going to fight all of these wars that palin/mccain want to fight???? You simply do not hear the word diplomacy from either of the two. How do you think we Americans are going to take having our sons and daughters drafted to fight all of these unnecessary wars. I prefer we stick to fighting the ones we absolutely have to, and doing everything we humanly can to avoid any other unnecessary ones.

Re: Palin to Talk To Voters, Not Media

She wants to be treated the same, but yet....she simply can not take questions from the press. Now, McCain, who did very little to challenge his party(other than the surge) says he is the agent of change. Huh? McCain supports the same Bush policies. When he decided to run, he changed his mind about the very few things he had originally disagreed with Bush on( bush's tax cuts the biggie) and now he decided to support them. McCain has moved far to the right, courted those very folks he used to call agents of intolerance. Sadly, the Maverick died...he sold his soul.
