Bullshit. It's a complex causal web of wiping blood with blood.. if we don't calm down and get real with honoring the sovereignty of independent cultures.. we're just making a mess.

Re: The Progressive Case against Bernie's "Fair Trade" | Foundation for Economic Education

There are some good points here, but what the article fails to address is the overall solvency and distribution of sovereignty and power within the global economy. While you may generate new redistributions of income for poor of a given nation - you're actually generating an extraction process for both economies - meanwhile the multinational corporation benifits from extracting cheap resource from the manufacturing nation, while dodging tax and expense bullets in the American economy. As the article so clearly illustrates too - the multinational suppresses local capital and homegrown industry and converts the manufacturing nation into it's personal sweatshop. With American capital to undermine local regulations there, as well as now exert financial influence back at home. More plantations run by foreigners is not a healthy culture, economy, or future. Nice try.

Likely, Bernie's solution is not complete - and there is room for evolution, adjustment, and improvements. The good news is Bernie is the kind of leader that can hear that kind of feedback and integrate it.

Re: Wisdom 2.0 Response: Onstage Protest of Google

Now that's how you respond in a healthy and productive way to dissidence. Christie seemed justified to me in most of his moments - responding to people that did not want to address him with respect or listen to his responses which they asked for. The wrong address and the wrong phone number. That woman and her family has been harassed, threatened and shell shocked because TamTam was smart enough to leverage a false real name within her youtube identity.

/b/ uncovered the first wrong identity. Realized it was wrong, then went back to work. /b/ posting her actual info led to the prompt "coming clean" video.. and then deactivation of her account some 60min later. Once TamTam outed herself, and she became a "God Among Trolls" TamTam's personal info was wiped of of the /b/ message boards.

Im not sure if that was as a means of respect, or a recognition that her personal safety was in jeopardy.

Re: YouTube Troll Tamtampamela Mocks Christians & Tsunami Victims, Gets Death Threats

@Jay - the funny part is Jay, I have a background in the pentecostal realms. Back when 9/11 happened I was getting email chain letters about how the attacks were answers to a prayer group in Illinois. I've been in, around, and prayed with people who sound just like tamtampamela. I saw the video yesterday - and thought it was real. From within the paradigm - what she says and how she says it - well, it fits the bill.

Re: YouTube Troll Tamtampamela Mocks Christians & Tsunami Victims, Gets Death Threats

TamTamPamela would be well-served by some clever PR minds to help her get back in the game. She can't afford them most likely, but it would be a good calling card for some up-and-comings to help her spin this back into a balanced and respected existence for herself.

Re: YouTube Troll Tamtampamela Mocks Christians & Tsunami Victims, Gets Death Threats

From a viral video standpoint - this has been a fascinating run.

I've been watching the thing unfold closely for the past 24hrs. It's been a hilarious train wreck that I havent been able to look away from. And I've learned a lot about the internet and have been humbled by it's power.

Completely ignoring the content of the video. I think it's an amazing weather storm.

I can see the need to delete the account - it was a feeding frenzy last night. Her 'coming clean' only enraged people more. Now they had been 'duped' - although threats escalated, it should be mentioned that she had been receiving vile and evil threats, from Christians and Atheists, alike all day.

From purely a PR point though - I would not have deleted the account. She squelched the flames.. but not the heat, As you pointed out her videos quickly repopulated the tubes after she took them down. But now the conversation is decentralized and she no longer has the loudest mic.

I would have kept the videos live. Turned off commenting. Admitted the Troll in the notes of all the videos, and continued to let the thing run. She hadnt even broken 1million hits when the channel was closed. But she has viral embeds ALL over the net.

She could have monetized the videos with simple youtube advertising and turned around to donate that money to American RedCross in a social redeeming rooz.

LaughAloneTV attempted to get in on the magic with her, but the fear level was too high. And even LaughAloneTV botched it - suddenly they had their name as the copyright holders on the video embeds across the web, but they didnt have their twitter, facebook, or youtube live with info. They missed out, but got back into the game late.

Now TamTam(we know her name, but best to let her personal info evaporate), is on the run. It will be interesting to see if the American Attention-span baptizes her with forgetfulness, or if she will be forced to turn and face the music. And then - will she be standing prideful in her prank or will she be reformed by the taste of humble pie.

If she had kept her vids live she could have atleast harnessed momentum, manicured it towards internet legend, and maybe lightened the conversation and made some intelligent points. But the deep Red Rights dont like being made fun of, and she might not have been able to shake their tale for quite some time.

May The Force be with You all,

Re: Water-Now Meetup Brainstorming & Strategy Meeting Notes

no boo to you

Re: Adobe CS4 Error 150:30

Challenge though - is I dont even have the file in my ROOT library.. so then what?

Re: October 2010 Issue Preview – “Creativity”

Mozart's concern for money may have came distinctly from the fact that he struck out on his own - independent from the patronage of the church or the crown. Mainly online social medias. Finding media, good media, interesting content, blogs, ideas, and web-services/apps - was not something I 'knew' how to do. But by cultivating my ballroom (via Twitt and now FF), I have meshed into a network of brilliant people actively participating in shaping and strengthening a human web of innovators and critics. It's really valuable.

To maximize that for me, though - it has been about diversity - following a large sample size of folks in order to interface intimately with a greater field of the unknown (when I first logged on to twitter a couple months back.. I had NO idea who anyone was outside of Scoble).

I basically threw a bunch of seeds into the backyard with a bucket, threw some dirt around and watered faithfully. From that sprung some amazing stuff: connections, ideas, and inspiration.

Specifically I have been interested in following people from my geographic region(NYC). This has been great.. it has allowed me to gain a sense of the localized 'tech' culture: events, ideas, trends, venues. I've learned a lot, met great people, and tapped into a vein of folks I don't think I could really have gained the connection with otherwise.

Shooting from the hip worked for me. I now am learning the skill of balancing one foot in twitter while one in friendfeed.

Re: TwerpScan – Good Name; Good Way to Zap Them

wait a minute here... Am I a spammer then?

My initial excursion into twitter left me with a blank feed. So I had to start following somebody. None of my friends use the service. So I started just following random people. At first I just tracked conversations, then interesting icons, at one point I just started farming Scoble's list of people he followed.

Point is, in a few days I was following some 1200 people - out of almost shere random intuitive clicking. And I had less than 30 people following me.

But that's how I plugged into the network, that's how I experimented with the service, that's how I put my ear to the ground to find out where the herd was.

I mean yes, maybe I should go backwards now - my interaction with twitter is now pretty much a random jump into the stream to see what's going on in the main party room. I enjoy and find value in that - but am I dragging the system down?

None-the-less, the logic is flawed. Who cares if they're following you - if they aren't producing interesting tweets for you - unfollow them.. but to block people who have disproportionate follower ratios is like prohibiting people who have low rss subscriptions from reading your blog.. how much sense would that make?

back to me, am I being a selfish twerp by following so many people?
