Yes, the "all you can eat" idea gets you to buy. After all, that's why buffets still sell, and that's why you subscribed to the Times. But you and I can't possibly consume everything, so access yields a certain emptiness.

What matters most are the pointers (and the people who point us) to the good stuff. I hesitate to use the word curation, it's overused enough, but implicit curation really is the fix. Thus far, no one has harnessed our natural and almost imperceptible daily gestures to build something that's tuned to and for me. Instead we have top ten most shared lists and the like, maybe one step above twitter's hideous suggested users list of old. We can do better.

I've been chewing on this for some time now, and your post finally pushed me over the edge. Fascinating stuff, really, the emptiness of having it all.

Re: BE ON FIRE

Reminds me of a line that's been stuck in my head since the day I first read it years ago: “Catch on fire and people will come for miles to watch you burn.”

Re: http://bryce.vc/post/10698287062

You may not be using Facebook, but they sure are using you.

Re: http://bryce.vc/post/2665254495

"The difference between delusional and visionary is largely retrospective."
