Traditionally, stadia in Europe belonged to a place — Stamford Bridge, Old Tafford, Stade du France, Stadio Olimpica (Roma), and so forth. But ah, it's perfectly normal for European sports to have a "shirt sponsor" where the logo turns every 3-year-old fan into an unwilling brand ambassadors for an airline or bank half a world away. Pick your poison.

But of course the worst of both worlds is coming for us. Soccer and Rugby are now being played in named stadia, and American teams are rocking more and more logos on their uniforms and court surfaces itself. Just ask Caitlin "Salesforce" Clark. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Re: Working Undercover

One good cartel deserves another. I'm genuinely surprised that FIFA emerged victorious in a legal brawl between titans. I would not have been surprised if it went the other way, where stadium-owners extort the hapless global soccer fans into pronouncing "Guaranteed Rate Field" in their native tongue. Words like "all" in a 30-year, 100-million-dollar contract can get interpreted either way.

Honourable mention to the Cards Against Humanity Baseball Place in Joliet, Illinois for being both painfully obvious and cheeky in their naming endeavour.

Re: New Logo and Identity for AOTO by Gärde Design

Really only works as an animated logo. It's one thing to adhere to a 9-column grid, or whatever, no matter the overall aspect ratio, but this goes out the window fast. Why bother showing that.

Re: New Logo and Identity for Ideogram by How&How

The copy and graphics alike feel as if they were generated by AI itself. A weird test of whether or not the wordmark only works when rendered with lights rather than ink. Weird spacing. Too much uppercase. It commands way more attention than it should, and doesn't demonstrate typographic or photography savvy at all. There is indeed a way to stay quiet and let your clients' work take center stage, but this ain't it.

Re: New Logo and Identity for Interbrand done In-house

I actually can't believe that the minimalist hipster Helvetica aesthetic made it all the way to production. Surely this trend has been dying for ten years already. The whole thing is irony in graphic design form. Bad spacing, difficult legibility (via uppercase), overexposed Polaroid photos, minimal colours if not black-only. Is this the best we can do?

Re: New Logo and Identity for WOW by Plural

Good to hear!
