I would like the opportunity to get the required information into a buyer's hands about my listing, yes. And, if they are not interested in that listing, I would like the opportunity to earn that buyer's business on another property. Guilty as charged.

However, there is a large leap to a dual agency situation. I don't feel it is my responsibility to tell a consumer how they should work with an agent. It is my responsibility to educate and disclose how it is going to go down on this property, what there options are, etc. Once, armed with the facts, it is the choice of the consumer how to proceed. Not as a dual agent, but as me being a seller's agent and them being unrepresented.

Great discussion, just don't think it has much to do with the iphone app :)

Re: Shame On You REALTOR.com for Promoting Dual Agency

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I don't think it is a promotion of dual agency. This app is the best app out there for mobile property searching (IMO.)

As it relates to the agency, it is no different than you putting a flyer on the sign of your listings. The only purpose for doing that is to expose your listing to the public. This app does this magnificently. Unless you specifically state on your listing brochures that all consumers should hire their own agents to view this property, then you are doing the same thing as this app does (promoting dual agency as you put it.)

The argument about R.com and Move.com using this as a tool for upsell of services, is a different story and can be debated. I am not a fan of R.com, and do NOT pay for any of their "extras." However, when a consumer searches using this app, and comes across one of my listings it does give them my name and phone number to contact for additional info, albeit not as pretty and complete as an upgraded member. Thus, I'm cool with it, no upgrade necessary.

Re: How the Grinch Stole Christmas From Realtors

If 70% are not going to be buying a home, that means 30% of all non-homeowners are going to buy. If that happens, we will Realtors will have a very good 2009!

Re: Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008

I wonder what other little surprises will be dug out when this is fully digested?

Re: Cherokee Co. The ARK needs to have tougher security measures, or the gang plank will become inundated.
