For the record the show was 100% live with absolutely no editing. In fact none of the shows have been edited so far.

Really grim but hopefully things will cool down when the first strains of the tamburas or thier 'electronic' counterparts are heard.

Today is the age when special items have to be highlighted and hyped via previews and promos :) My take is that it is the people who listen that have to judge whether something is special or not.

I can give you a detailed reply with all the 'modern jargon' associated with present day musicans in their interviews, but no I'd just say that I sat down and wrote whatever came to my mind without any trigger.

The story is slightly different. It was December 1990. I had just sung the afternoon concert at the Academy. Both CS Krishnayyar and Semmangudi attended my concert that day. After the concert CSK came upto me and invited me to perform for the Tyagaraja festival in Kalpathy. He even took out Rs 100 from his pocket and gave it to me as advance!

The recording was supervised by my guru Shri Calcutta Krishnamurti and Unnikrishnan was also learning from him at that time. So we made an effort to sing it the same way. I was actually referring to a live concert that both of us did for a private function at someone's home.
As for collaborative ventures, several have happened and continue to happen. Time is an important constraint for me to get involved. Of course if the carrot is dangled why not?!!! :)

I really don't think I compromise my voice at all. A modern mic operated by an intelligent technician in an acoustically well built auditorium will definitely reproduce my voice 100%

Open venues do sometimes make me want to increase the volume just that bit more. This is more the case especially in temple concerts in Kerala.

As long as the music is good, I don't think it matters what and where it is sung frankly.

Don't really think so. Because it is still the voice that has to maintain the sruti.

I would just say that the experiences are different. I enjoy both. I am as much at home in a full house at a big auditorium as I am at an intimate home setting with 30/40 people.

a - Well the shouting has come down. Probably there is a lot of modernity in voice modulation and control.
b - In many many ways. If we are talking audio and mics only, then a lot of things from voices, instruments, playing styles have all changed a lot.
c - I don't think maintaining sruti has anything to do with the mic.
