I didn't see your comment until just now, eight years later; I discovered this bootleg again today on an external hard drive of mine that died in April 2009 but came back to life two weeks ago. At the end of "Crazy Train" Ozzy says, "God bless you, Tokyo! I love you!," and after "Steal Away (the Night)" he introduces Don Airey on keyboards, Bob Daisley on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums, and Jake E. Lee on guitar. Is it possible that Ozzy played Tokyo again later in '84 with Airey present?

Re: Old Is New

Nicely put!

Re: Book Review: “Miss Subways”

Three novels since 2015, plus two albums -- Duchovny has discipline, at the very least.

Ted, you mentioned "mythological creatures who live in our world" in your review of "Miss Subways." It eventually won the Oscar for Best Picture of 2009, however, because it was first released in theaters on June 26, 2009.

I realize I can't change your mind, though. Xtava's logo is slightly less conspicuous than Lavazza's, but were either of those brands around, or at least popular in the U.S., when pay phones were still a common sight? I'm surprised AT&T's logo didn't receive a loving close-up in the phone booth, but maybe Lopez is a Verizon customer.

Re: Sugar Water: Undead My Heart

Thanks for reading! I wish we'd get a scene of them dishing on their fellow survivors' haircuts, because it's not as if the writers have a problem with killing time.

Re: This tribute to the films of Noah Baumbach reveals his recurring themes

Thank you for bringing that up. Last week the A.V. Club posted a story about a Joel Silver tribute film from the early '90s (http://www.avclub.com/artic...

"Silver, whose over-caffeinated mannerisms were memorably lampooned by Rick Moranis on SCTV, either volunteered or was corralled into appearing as a mad scientist in his own tribute video. Considering his shouted, halting delivery of dialogue, this might not have been the greatest idea in movie history."

But it's not Silver. It's Lawrence Gordon, Silver's former producing partner, who even says his name right before he appears on-screen. I don't blame the writers for not reading the comments under their stories, and mistakes will happen, obviously, but is no one at the A.V. Club noticing these errors? It's a little strange.

Seriously, though, "Modern Romance" is a great David Bowie song. Almost as good as that Mel Brooks movie "Modern Love."

Re: Tim Burton and Joel Silver “honored” with cringeworthy ‘90s mockumentaries

See also: Albert Brooks in "I'll Do Anything" (1994), released five months after "True Romance," and Steve Martin in "Grand Canyon" (1991).
