It is not left to subjective 'truth'. Eph 4:13-14.

All I am saying is that if Perry is trying to instill any kind of Biblical truth, it needs to be meticulously handled with care. James says that any teacher who leads one down a bad path would be better with a 'stone around his neck and drowned.' harsh words, but leader and influencers need to heed the calling.

When I said "Perry needs to be discipled by some mature men" you said it was "shallow and arrogant". My friend, the Bible isnt "shallow and arrogant" when it says that those that are mature in the faith should lead those that are immature. He needs to be surrounded not by groupies or yes men, but by people who will hold him and his work accountable.

I love that he isnt afraid of expressing his faith. He just needs to be pointed in the right direction.

Re: The Tyler Perry problem

Perry is a man who brings his faith to the workplace. The problem is that his faith is not a mature faith. He needs to be discipled and guided by some mature men.

I am happy that he is not afraid, but the message needs to grow up.

David Rupert
Red Letter Believers Blog
"Salt and Light"
www.redletterbelievers.com

Re: Latte Links (6/3)

I always love your links!
Thank you for the addditional reading

David
www.redletterbelievers.com

Re: Slippery Slopes

Ric...you draw an interesting parallel and Im not sure how to resolve it. It's ingenious, that's for sure!

I've done some work with homeless shelters, by far, the vast majority of these people are there by choice. They are 'independent types' who simply like to live off the radar. There are so many resources that no one should be hungry.

But, you gotta hand it to this group by 'humanizing' their efforts.
David
www.redletterbelievers.com

Re: The Holy Spirit and Korn

Pretty amazing journey.
This tells me to NEVER GIVE UP ON PEOPLE!

I blogged about Brian Welch here:
http://redletterbelievers.blogspot.com/2008/12/...

Amazing story

Re: Two Models

Rick...I have mixed feeling here. For a long time, i thought the "come as you are" was definitely the way to go. But I think I'm turning a little. And here's why: Far too many people never change once they enter the doors. The lowest common denomitor is now the norm. And we dont hold people accountable. We dont encourage them to progress. We dont want to offend. We dont want to encourage. So we have millions of believers who never will make a difference. Wasted conversions....

Thanks for the post!

David
www.redletterbelievers.com

Re: Tabula not so rasa

Rick

The blank slate is indeed problematic for those of us who believe in a God of design, inflecting his wonder into each human being.

I know a man with eight children, raised in a christian environment home schooled ....and every one of them is completely different from the other . Although it is depressing (every moment of every show the entire worlds future holds in balance....and no one ever smiles or has a light moment), it is rich in biblical allegory and upfront faith.
