No abuse of policy + no requirement to pay accrued vacation at termination. That's a fantastic setup for the employers, but a lousy one for the employees.

Fred isn't usually a troll...except when it comes to Apple.

Fred loves the populist stance that it was WRONG! WRONG! that he couldn't use Apple on whatever phone he wanted in 2007. And soon, on a blog post on this very domain it will be wrong! WRONG! that he can't use an Apple Watch with whatever phone he wants.

All of that is to say that I have the under when it comes to over/under 2016 before Fred owns, and blogs about owning, an Apple Watch.

I'm pretty sure you already know this, but for anyone else...channels that don't subscribe to regular Nielsen reporting (e.g. CBS Sports Network, Red Zone, etc) aren't included above

*Note: despite being the February estimates, they were produced before Fox News ended its dispute w/Dish Networks in January and it's safer to assume Fox News is in 94.7 million homes and that Fox Business Network is in 79.9 million homes (those were the numbers in the January estimates).

No. 83.6% of the 116.4 million homes with televisions in the U.S. have The Weather Channel (according to Nielsen).

To Bill: if all you'd done was invent the Renew/Cancel Index that would've been plenty. You did so much more. Thank you!

to the folks decrying the size of the sample, that's very easy to do especially if:

a.) you've never spent a second learning about confidence interval, margin of error, etc

b.) it isn't YOUR money that would fund the doubling, tripling or more of the panel for relatively insignificant gains in statistical accuracy. Spoiler: the people who'd actually have to spend the money (Nielsen's customers) don't think it's worth it.

c.) the numbers really don't matter if they don't confirm your biases. Even though there would be low-rated/canceled shows under *any* system, if a show YOU like is low-rated and/or canceled, whatever the system, it's obviously and horribly flawed!

you didn't miss it. there is a bit of division in editorial duties now between Zap2it and TVBTN and they favor galleries over lists. If you favor lists I highly recommend Metacritic's: metacritic.com/feature/tv-p...

it varies a little bit day-to-day for a variety of factors, but the national sample has consistently been in the neighborhood of 20,000 homes for at least several years. Last night there were 19,803 households & 49,510 people in the tabulation.

Fred, there are several OTA DVR solutions available already (see http://www.tablotv.com/ ) and I think it's reasonable to expect that in short order you'll see things like that combined with (some/most/all of) the Internet streaming functionality stuff like Roku provides.

I too believe that *some* customers want to be able to DVR and stream content that is available free OTA, but my guess is most people probably don't (or don't want to) think about it at all.

I did get secondary confirmation. Since I didn't do Bubble Watch this year and wasn't following things closely, it wasn't anything I monitored until I compiled this list, so "finally" realized is relative!

Since everyone and their mother (Happy Mothers Day, moms!) knew Family Guy would be on in 2014-15 regardless, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. If it is for you, so be it.

indeed, but those are "national" ratings, the .83 was specified as a "coverage rating" which instead of measuring against the national population, only measures against the population that receives the channel.

yep, often TFC doesn't have the individual show ratings, but sees the 8-11p primetime average for the network. Rather than simply not including ratings for shows they don't see, they use the primetime average and attach an asterisk to disclaim, but of course people don't scroll down to read the disclaimer...
