Of course, I don't think I'm paying for that level of service, so I'll have to check the SLA again. I will monitor Twitter more closely and should probably have Rackspace tweets hit my mobile.

That said, I couldn't be happier with Rackspace overall. Great products and great service.

Re: Services Need to Stop With the Twitter Kool-Aid

Paying customers know how to get support via more traditional channels. But, remember, most of our customers are hard-core geeks and Twitter is the fastest way to interact with a large group of geeks.

Re: Services Need to Stop With the Twitter Kool-Aid

I agree. The Twitter updates are nice to spread the message to a mass audience, but paying customers deserve a more personal touch and more information.

Re: The Legitimacy of Border Policy

You're, pushing-my conception of political sovereignty, over the bor-der-li... ok sorry

Re: The Legitimacy of Border Policy

I guess I might qualify as one of those "defenders of the legitimacy of strong immigration restrictions". I hope I'm not being obtuse in my analysis of the arguments.

I don't agree with the premise that immigration policy and associated border security are in fact "policies that subject them [foreigners] to state force". A foreigner becomes subject to immigration policy and border laws when he freely chooses to enter the sovereign territory of a neighbor. Until such time, he is not subject to state force.

Secondly, to whom do you extend the participatory privilege in defining the immigration laws of a sovereign entity? To those within 20 miles of a border, 50 miles, 100 miles? To those that express a desire to emigrate in 1 year, 2 years, 5 years? Where do you draw the border line (pun intended)?

Re: Ryan’s Lifestream Digest for July 22nd

Steve, it's easy. I purchased on of the Adobe CS suites, and had to wait until business hours (PDT) today to actually have the transaction approved. On a positive note, it was approved in one business day and I downloaded the 6.3GB .dmg. Thank goodness for the Verizon FiOS 50/20Mbps plan.

Re: louisgray.com: Is There a Get Out of MobileMe Free Card?

$50/yr per user (or mailbox) is for the Premier version. Then you choose who/where your mail is hosted. My domain's email is hosted by Google. It has been very reliable, offers 25GB of storage and very good SPAM filtering for $50/yr. Since I use an iPhone, MobileMe is still useful for pushing/syncing calendar and Address Book updates automatically--that is all I use it for. Until someone else enables the same functionality, we are stuck with MobileMe. In the interim, forward your louisgray@mac.com --> @louisgray.com while you transition. Happy to talk to you about a smooth transition. I have done this a few times personally and at work.

Re: SocialToo Announces SocialSurveys!

very cool Jesse!

Re: louisgray.com: Prop 8 Tangles Religion, Tech and Politics

Louis, I too am LDS, and although I do not live in California, I have had an opportunity to discuss the conflict many of my LDS friends in California feel with regards to this issue.

Not since the ERA in the 70's has the LDS Church been so vocal on a "political" topic. I was very young when the ERA was being considered, but I remember the conversations with my parents around our dinner table. The ERA had a big impact on members of the LDS church and caused divisions amongst them right down party lines. I get the sense the debate on Prop 8 is different--not dividing by party lines, but dividing acquaintances, friendships and families.

I don't have an answer for you, but I want to simply thank you for sharing, if only by proxy, the deep thought and intense struggle so many in the religious community have over political issues. Your post raises the level of discourse and debate. Your post demonstrates to anyone who thinks that a belief in God and adherence to religious principles, or a specific religion, creates hegemonic automatons incapable of rational thought, is simply not true.

I think on this particular issue the opposition has successfully labeled it a "civil rights struggle" and those that support it as intolerant. It may be intellectually appealing to equate, as Robert Scoble suggests, the Gay, Lesbian and Bi-sexual lifestyle to a civil-rights issue, but I think many civil rights leaders would take exception to the comparison.

As a conservative, my concern is with elevating a lifestyle to minority status--which has implications far beyond gay marriage. To do so creates a precedence for any segment of the population to define itself as a "minority" and to then seek redress from the government. Where do we as a society draw the line?

Thank you again for posting. May God gives us all the wisdom to what is right as we wrestle with tough issues.

Re: louisgray.com: BackType Launches Widgets and Alerts to Extend Comments Tracker

This is solved. What a shame that such a talented mind is so blinded by a perverse political view. BTW, don't try to push the BS that Republicans do it too or do it more often or better or are more mean spirited. Didn't you believe Obama was different, that his message was uplifting and inspiring? Would Obama want this despicable garbage spread on his behalf? It would appear in every product manager their are two competing voices. The traditional product manager in me says, "Wait, slow down, let's not sell before we define our roadmap, market requirements, pricing, etc.". The "agile" (and experienced) product manager in me says, "is there any better way to define market requirements, gather input for the roadmap and determine what the market will bear on price."
