For the cloud, CrashPlan for offsite backup. It's relatively inexpensive and I have over 100GB backed up there.
Dropbox is synced between multiple computers for documents.

For local/cloud backup, I have an external drive connected to an Airport Extreme Base Station acting as a Time Machine and network drive. I can access it anywhere with the help of setting a dynamic dns to my home IP.

I also carry around a portable harddrive just in case, since the MB Air SSD is relatively small.

I used to use PogoPlug, but it was horribly unreliable. I eventually went with the AEBS + USB External Drive solution explained above.

Looks good to me. It might be the device that I've been looking for all these years that the UMPC didn't deliver. Hopefully there will be 3rd party app support for this. What was the last small screen device that had an active digitizer? The 5" OQO that ran Windows? This is more portable and definitely lighter.

Fair enough. I don't like resistive screens on touch screen tablets anymore. The advantage of using a stylus is not worth it anymore, for me. One of main disadvantages is losing out on multi-touch with a resistive screen. Typing on a multi-touch keyboard is so much nicer than pecking with your nail.

I took a look at it at Best Buy. The resistive screen is a deal killer. You really need to use your nail to navigate around the screen. The viewing angle is bad and the pixels are a bit big at 800x480 at 7". It does have an underclocked Snapdragon, so flash support with 2.2 is possible in the future.

What it does have going for it is the optical mouse stick, kickstand, AT&T 3G support, and Google apps. It's still tough to go with it by the screen quality alone.

Hm. I didn't want this to Publish right away. I was hoping the Send To Email plugin would have the option of replacing publishing to the default blog. Plus, the plugin locked up and didn't work.

Haha, well, the time limit has passed so I doubt I'll go through with it. It does give me an idea of doing reviews of cheap, useless gadgets though. Things I can collect and stick on my shelf.

Rex, yes I've seen many prize contests. I've been a distant fan of bumper nuts for quite some time now so perhaps it's time to show my love for their products. (yes i'm joking)

I wouldn't replace it. I would assume the picture quality of your MiniDV cam is much better than the Aiptek. MiniDV encodes at around 25MBps. Panasonic's CCD sensor and lens are much better. You won't experience the 'wobble' effect when you are shooting handheld.

Aiptek's are cheap, pocketable, flash based, and durable but it will never reach the quality of a 'real' camcorder.
If you want to introduce yourself into the world of HD, give it shot. It'll prepare you for the trials and tribulations of dealing with HD footage for editing, encoding, etc.

So far, it's great. I still have to do a write up on why I chose this camera along with a review.
A big deal killer for some may be the bad indoor low light quality. The picture is very noisy.

It took 2 days. Did 2 day shipping. I just posted a video of a cruise. So far, indoors is horrible as I expected. Looks pretty good so far otherwise though.

Thanks Bill. Hopefully the TX1 blog picks up but I'll surely be posting about it.
I'm currently following dpreview, steve's digicam, and a few other forums. There's just not a whole lot of discussion about the TX1.

I looked into that DIY stabilizer. Maybe a smaller scale version will work but it would still probably take up a lot of space.
Maybe a smaller version of the Hague MMC (Mini Motion Cam) would be awesome.

The flickr group has died down considerably too but at least it's there.
