The same for you and yours. This is going to be a great year for us.

Re: Age In Place (Week Five)

Mark,

You make a very valid point about being able to understand what the site is about just by looking at the home page. As well as, information overload there. Restructuring the content on the home page is definitely something we need to do and just went to the top of the list.

Thank you very much for your comments. They are much appreciated.

Mark Hager

Re: Age In Place (Week Five)

It is incredibly useful! We've made more contacts that led to something productive there than any place else. We love Twitter!

Re: Age In Place (Week Two)

Thanks for both the ideas. I've actually considered Joomla (I have worked with it in the past). The learning curve was, as you said, steep. We are (already) seeing Wordpress management be a nightmare, so I totally understand what you're saying. I'm thinking we may need to revisit that platform.

I'll check on the phpLD as well. I saw mention of it somewhere, but (lazy me) was hoping for an elaborately designed and highly effecient free plugin :)

Thanks again!

Re: Age In Place (Week Two)

Jason,

I wholeheartedly agree with you distinction between content and good content...we definitely want good content! I've actually got a connection at a nearby liberal arts college that might prove useful in finding a good candidate. Excellent suggestion! Thanks for the input.

Re: Picking Good Horses

Hard lesson to learn. Money is only important until you have it, I guess. Once you're there it really comes down to the hard question of "what am I doing?" Having talked to you more extensively amount this, I'm glad you finally decided to get out there and make a go at it.

Re: Picking Good Horses

Why am I here? I want to build something that makes a difference in people's lives and be able to earn a good living doing it.. It took me a little while to find the right thing for me, but I did, eventually.

How did I get here? I found myself in the same situation...being too practical for my own good. Earning a buck became way overrated. Giving up my time to build (read, share) the next big thing. I burned half of my life away this way and finally had enough of it.

I set out to do something really important: change the world one life at a time. It's turned out to be very rewarding and satisfying...I'm glad I jumped in.

Re: Nice Threads You Got There

I think you've probably touched on several thorns in the side for many.

There's nothing like that "Aw, crap" moment after hitting reply instead of forward, when you're sending the message on to someone the original sender had not intended to recieve it. I've done it and learned early to read my responses and check addresses BEFORE hitting send.

My parents are forwarders .... drives me nuts.

Re: Robots, Coming To An Operating Table Near You

This is really interesting stuff. I just shared it with my wife who is the Editor at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and she said they are using this system now, except their focus is initially on heart related surgeries. She one-upped me on this one.
