Ditto... are they unlocked? I didn't see a response here on that question.

I'd certainly be interested in an unlocked MiFi unit, whether this or another.

I currently have (courtesy of work) and Huawei E870 Express Card (on a Voda data tariff). This is - IMO - somewhat flakey (often requires to be re-inserted to get it to connect) and I would much prefer to have a MiFi unit camped out in my bag.

Any options for me to get a unit into which I can just put my Voda SIM and have it magically work?

(I'm not keen to talk to my Corp IT guys about this; I try and keen my PC away from them;-)

Pixelpipe is dire.

Awful.

I've spent most of the day trying to get it to work on an HTC Magic (where Shozu don't have a client). I agree Shozu has got a bit bloaty recently and the desktop client was still-born, but it works when it counts for me.

The price is more than reasonable for the features it offers - I've paid more for a sandwich. I'd also like to see some pricing for multiple handset bundles for 'power users', but I suspect that will be coming.

Somebody has to pay Shozu for the product they've created - the free ride was nice. This is preferable to them giving up or going under.

Clearly - just about every serious international traveller would like to see affordable mobile data. However, until we see a viable commercial path for the specialised Travel SIM proveders to offer this at an affordable price, then it is just not going to happen!

MarRoam *DOES* offer roaming data - but at EUR 1.92 per 100k this is not exactly what I would describe as affordable! I would be willing to pay something like GBP 0.01 per 100k!!

It seems like the market is crying out for a decent data roaming sim. Data Abroad seems to one of those areas that will grow exponentially.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying 30% is a precise figure for testing a potential market monopoly, but it is in my opinion low enough for a combined operator not to be of concern in that respect.

I don't think the government (whichever party or form it may evolve into in the coming months) is in any particular strong position to deny such a merger - after all the combination of T-Mobile and 3 did agree to hand over 8.3877 *billion* pounds to the government for their 3G licences back in April 2000 - which incidently 50% was upfront and the rest over 20 years. It's these ongoing payments which are crippling the operators now.

Ahh I forgot about the 30% figure, I did remeber the compettion was rumoured to going to block a potential merge (can't remember the operators) here in the UK.
These things may not be possible be would it be the best for the customer? I personally do not think it will.

NTL and Telewest formed to create a near virtual UK cable network monopoly, and that was before a recession, so it's not impossible to push these things through. Besides if they did combine they wouldn't have more than 30% of the market - which I believe is one of the litmus tests of whether something is a potential monopoly.

On a related note, I believe the Australian government are considering approving the merger of 3 and Vodafone in Australia - which only leaves two competitors (Optus and Telstra). These things aren't impossible..

(edit: clarified the Australian government comment - apparently it's being investigated and *not* approved as yet)

The regulators would never allow T-Mobile and 3 to merge even in a recession.

I have to agree I would simply never buy flip phone as they are simply not cool. However apart from that function and price is much more important then style.

I agree press email not being working is not a good thing? It still all seems a little suspect as a Blyk user I have not had a brand message for months. Are Blyk saying that as a MVNO the business is not sustainable? For me the answer is yes. This is why they are turning to the larger MNO's to bring the model to their plans. Now I am convinced this is where it will work. What will happen to the Blyk's core asset now? Will we be told to leave or will we be offered a plan on another network?

Ahh that is a good idea, I must see if they have a 5th edition. The point is that the page *should* be viewable on a mobile browser anyway. I cannot see a normob using something like devicescape.

All I could gather about Virgin's service was it was provided by t mobile I have no idea about how the back end works.
The NE east coast services sounds much better then the west coast!

I asked @edent on twitter. He works for voda. He said Voda sell the iPhone in a number of countries (PT, GR, EG etc). It also works on N95 8GB & f490. More coming soon.
