I simply have to get back to posting to this blog regularly. The "road warrior" excuse is getting thin.

Re: Microsoft Apologizes for Photoshop Trainwreck

Clearly, Microsoft should have bought and used a different photo. It's not like Corbis doesn't have any images representative of what Poles might expect to see in an advertisement.

However, the criticism of Microsoft is clearly an application of American political correctness upon the the people of Poland. By extension,it comes across to me as prejudiced against the Poles to some extent. Either that, or we have a whole bunch of folks who are totally ignorant about the way the world works.

The Polish people are proud of their ethnic identity, as they have been for generations upon generations. Good for them! Some Americans are among infinitesimal minority, mostly Westerners, in the world today who condemn that sort of historical truth in the name of political correctness. So, they browbeat Microsoft into making an apology for an "offense" that does not exist. Absurd. Imposing their opinion in situations like this makes it clear that they are the ones with problems about race; they don't like it that Poland isn't "diverse," as if "diversity" is some sort of de facto good and we should all look down upon nations that are not trying to achieve his ideal They hate anything that is traditional or that goes against the grain of the insipid utopian scenes that populate their noggins.

Somewhere, George Orwell is laughing his ass off.

Re: Twitter Sign In Comes to Disqus: Try It Now on Mashable!

Disqus keeps getting better and better.

Re: The 7 Ways to Approach Twitter

I suppose this may fit into the "fictional character" category, but what about inanimate objects on Twitter? For instance, where I live we recently started publicizing details about a local flooding issue using our drainage well (@rainywell) as a Twitter character (linked to a Squidoo page) to spread news, make (hopefully) pithy comments and generally have some fun admist a tough situation.

Re: Stumblers Upon, I Have a Social Media Challenge for You!

Rich,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. There's still time to try new plays and implement new strategies before the game, your career, is over.

Re: Stumblers Upon, I Have a Social Media Challenge for You!

Thanks. I figured as much. My girl's only five, but very computer literate. Still, I won't let her near my desktop computer. I have my laptop for a couple of business trips a month, but I'd be in a mess if she broke it the day before I had to leave for one. This seems inexpensive enough for me to take a chance.

Re: Dell Netbook Announcement

Looks like what I might need to get my daughter off my laptop.

Re: Pardon the Dust

Yes, it does work well, as does the Disqus email reply function if this actually shows up as a reply to that first comment!

Re: mediabistro.com: FishbowlNY

It's amazing how well one thumbnail image can sum up a thought.
