Because Klout.com doesn't disclose the details of their "magic sauce" I can only assume they are no more than scammers trying to make money in the "influence metrics" space.

Ha ha, Ben. Purchasing something is not a "donation." The "donations" to the piggy bank are net IKEA profit minus the licensing. It's impossible to know what portion of any purchase ends up in the "piggy bank." And, you'd have to live in Sweden, and figure out whether Swedish tax law allows it.

So go right ahead and see if the IRS thinks you're clever.

Louis, I was giving the piece a glance and thought to myself "what does being a bad student have to do with cars?" Ha. The sentence is ... "Being a poor college student, I didn't have a car." I definitely take "poor student" to mean "bad at studying" -- but I don't claim to know best, or even better :)

Oh, and by the way, I think this is an excellent idea for a series. I can imagine how delightful the route was on foot! It must have all seemed sightly surreal.

I used Yahoo Mail "import contacts" to get my contacts out of Google... some fields got garbled.

It's only recently that Google got import/merge working almost perfectly. So now I wonder if gathering my contacts / social graph can't be more of a dynamic thing. I'm half resigned to Facebook world domination but I'd like to keep the small database I have in Google Contacts. Call me old fashioned. :)
