Do something that isn't boring. As we like to say, if you aren't giving or getting value where you are, use your two feet to go somewhere else and do something else. If you'd love to attend those sessions, why not facilitate them and lead them?

Re: Google Can’t Be Gamed; At Least Not by Meta Keywords

Crap! I know plenty of creatives who don't like to deal with technology nightmares, and you know what they do? Surround themselves with people who *do* know how to deal with them, and get them out of their way, so they can make with the creative.

There's easy, and there's powerful, and if there's some middle ground between the two, I say let people at it.

Re: Be you to succeed.

So... I guess you need to find out what you were "built to do" because somehow doing that will make you happy and successful, and also allow you to survive (make a living) doing it.

I'd have to argue that probably very few people have been able to do that... Or maybe it's just the people I know... :)

Re: Be you to succeed.

Hmmm, maybe some of us have failure in their DNA. I suppose some people succeed at failing, which is probably pretty crappy, and not much to get happy about.

I am not convinced that just because you are a "fan" of something you can do it and be successful at it, and manage to somehow eek out a survival doing it...

I know people who are fans of doing nothing, yet every day they have to drag their asses out of bed and go do some crap-job they hate just to get along in the world. Seriously, they would be happy doing "nothing" but I don't see that as a realistic option. I know people who work hard, and slave away at what they believe they want to do in the world, but they get beaten down, and it's depressing. It's sad to think that they want to help others who have less than them, and it might not work, they may fail, and it sucks.

So.... "Do what you were built to do an you’ll be successful" is all well and good, but what if you hate doing what you were "build to do" or you can't figure out what you were built to do?

Re: Be you to succeed.

If only it were that simple....

Re: Why I like netbooks (Scripting News)

I paid about $400 for the Asus Eee 701 when it first came out last year, and it's nice. It is small and light and I carry it in my bag everywhere. It runs Linux, and it can handle browsing, email, and I can manage servers and some of the stuff I want/need to do. A MacBook is bigger, and heavier, and more expensive. Still, if there was a comparable Apple netbook, I think I'd pay twice as much as I did for the Asus, just because it runs Mac OS X, and I could do pretty much *everything* I normally want/need to do, with the software I use everyday on my desktop. Linux is ok, but I do most of my real work on OS X.

Re: Micro Blogging Review

The "win" for identi.ca is the Laconica software, which is open source, which you can download and install on your own servers... none of the others you mention have that one feature. (Officially, not some hacked version of OS X.) I've got the original 701 model, so I don't see the battery life being so great on it. Still, you should check out eeeuser.com as there is a blog, forum and wiki where you might find some useful info on the Eee PC and battery options.

Re: CNBC interviews Palin (Scripting News)

Can someone please let her know what the VP does?
