We don't have the right to haphazardly announce our negative critiques of another person. There is appropriate biblical protocol for that, appropriate authority structures to consider. For me to rip at someone whom I have no direct relationship is irresponsible.

Now, does Todd's authority have a right and responsibility to bring correction? Yes. Without question. However, though we may have concerns, the rest of us must humbly pray and intercede and serve the process of healing and restoration. To do so doesn't condone sin, but rather, it ministers to the one who fell into sin.

The letter you read from Rick was supposed to be private, between him and Lee... but, for some reason, Lee took the liberty to share it publicly.

Re: The House Church Movement : Healthy? "What if God tells me to leave and my pastor tells me to stay?"

It's a trust issue. Do we trust God, who established all authority, to work it all out? Or must we take matters into our own hands, violate God's protocol and refuse to submit?

If we only submit to the point where we don't want to submit it's not submission at all.

I'd encourage you to read the book and let me know what you think.

Re: Mobile Podcast

Ha! I really appreciate it! Amy and I have had similar thoughts and have been very careful to pick the home businesses that support our ministry. For example, another home business that I have is web and graphic design, and Amy has had an ebay business that has helped support our ministry.

When we were directing the internship at IHOP, we'd do a track on finances and support raising. We encouraged everybody to get into prayer and seek the Lord regarding multiple streams of income. Some would work a part-time job and have an ebay business and rent out a room of their house, for example. Others had a home business and owned some real estate. Still others had internet businesses while also consulting and training in their area of expertise. The rest of the time they were free to be in the prayer room, minister, etc.

God will bring the necessary resources as we step according to his plans. We feel very much at peace about stepping out. But, certainly keep us in prayer! We'll need it!

Re: An important letter from Dutch Sheets : Todd Bentley : Divorce : Marriage : Revival : Lakeland

I think a lot of people tend to get too nervous (which is different than cautious) regarding moves of God, who he uses, how it unfolds, etc. The approach I take is to simply watch, enjoy, allow the Holy Spirit to work through it and discern for me personally what part of it, if any, I should grab hold of. If I feel something is off, I don't receive that, and if something is on, I do receive that.

If something is clearly heretical, which means a teaching violates an absolute of scripture, and the person teaching it would easily be identified as a non-Christian, then certainly share, with a humble heart and also with prophetic boldness, that it's heresy.

However, if the perceived wrong teaching doesn't threaten the absolutes, then take a breath and relax, pray and trust that God can use people with different theological perspectives than our own.

Always pray, intercede for the person, lift them up, speak well of them. The other issues that we need to be cautious of are clear immorality and clear financial indescretion. Then, if there are issues, that person's overseers are the only ones with the biblical authority to bring discipline.

I watch teachers and ministers from a variety of Christian camps. I certainly don't agree with 100% of them, and there is nobody I agree with 100% of the time. But, I just receive the blessing of the parts that truly impact me.

Re: A suspicious spirit : Heresy hunters : A critical discussion : Todd Bentley : Rick Joyner : Gossip : Slander

How in the world can you know the condition of another person's heart? I agree... but, not as rogue abusers of God's people. We must understand protocol, process, who's the appropriate person to bring the judgment, etc.

We must remember- Todd is repentant! Judgment by man is over. Done. Why would anybody want to do more damage? It's a demonic strategy. People love doctrine more than people, and it is showing now more than ever. It's not either/or, it's both/and. If we apply biblical doctrine to issues like this, the result will be zealous love!

Remember, I agreed with you that church discipline must be embraced. But, the scriptures you are referring to have to do with the unrepentant. Todd Bentley is your brother, you must love him, serve him and embrace him! Not expel him! I thought I'd let you know why, so we can be sure to understand the (very liberal) guidelines on this blog.

From time to time I'll run across someone who over values his or her own opinion so much that he or she devalues other people's opinions- and as a result, devalues other people (Christian people!). Not only is this an immature and insensitive way to discuss issues, it can be quite arrogant.

It's great to be zealous, firm, bold, passionate and confident as we discuss our insights on biblical topics, but we also have to admit that different streams within the body of Christ interprets certain parts of scripture slightly differently.

We must always be unmovable when it comes to the absolutes of scripture, but the many non-absolutes must be open for discussion.

There's a huge difference between saying, "You are in error." and, "In my opinion I feel you may be in error."

See the difference?

Re: The crisis in the church- it’s way more serious than we think : Hell, salvation and intimacy

Do you agree that you might be wrong? We must be firm regarding the absolutes. The absolutes are the core Christian tenants. Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead, etc.

However, you are addressing non-absolutes that people simply have differing views on.

Re: The crisis in the church- it’s way more serious than we think : Hell, salvation and intimacy

You need to change your approach if you want to be heard. It's ok to hold to an opinion, but to presume to have the right to make the final call on what is and is not error is inappropriate.

Surely you agree that Christians hold to different view, do you not?

The reason I deleted your comment is because of this issue. I'm fine with differing views, and I'm even fine with being zealous and passionate about our views... but, it's not ok to accuse or presume you have the right to be the final authority for somebody else on scriptural issues, specifically on the non-absolutes.

Re: The crisis in the church- it’s way more serious than we think : Hell, salvation and intimacy

I'd actually argue it's the polar opposite of legalism. The desire for God, to be with him, to receive him, etc. is to pray. I'm not talking shooting up requests, or 'saying our prayers'. I'm talking a back and forth, vital, active, powerful, consuming encounter with God.

The simple way to say it is: The issue of prayer is a barometer. To lack desire to have relationship with God is an indicator of an at risk position in Christ.

As we are zealously in love with God and receive him, his forgiveness, his life... then all is very well. However, if we don't receive God's forgiveness and his love, then all is most certainly not ok at all.

We are to love him with every part of us... Can you imagine anybody loving someone and not spending a lot of time with them? It makes no sense. That's really the point. If we receive God's tangible love, we will desire to spend time with him.

That doesn't mean it's always 'a high'... it's not always easy... but our love continually provokes us to seek his face.

Re: Restoration of Apostles and Prophets : TONIGHT- live video broadcast on this topic!

Hi!
Amy and I are praying, and stepping... making plans, but remaining flexible.
Right now, we're planning on launching two ministries, one in Detroit and one in Manitou or Colorado Springs, and we hope to be in the Springs in late May.

Element Church would be a ministry of RHOP. The idea is based on my book 20 Elements of Revival, and also the blueprint vision I received several years ago. The main foundation of night and day prayer is RHOP, and from that various departments of the city church will emerge. Element would be one of those departments. (That's one reason I like 'element'... it's a part of the grand experiment)

RHOP and Element would share the same building in the foreseeable future, unless something dramatic happens (like a lot of money showing up!)

The plan is for Element to be an Acts 2, revival/prophecy/prayer fueled church experience. It would meet on Sundays, but that would be just a part of the entire picture. The primary activity of everybody involved will always be prayer.

I'll be the director/leader of the ministry, and will be the primary teacher/vision caster when I'm in town. However, services will be very dynamic and flexible... we'll impart and pray as the thrust of what we do on Sundays... teaching will happen, but just as a part of the whole.

I've heard of Burn, but don't know precisely what their format is.
We'll not land on a single model, but will be prophecy heavy... meaning, we'll go from season to season as the Lord leads.

So, I fully expect 24/7 prayer to happen at some point, though in the early stages we'll focus primarily on developing the team, casting the vision, imparting the core values, etc.

Re: Deception in the Church : Strange Fire in the House of the Lord : Colorado Springs church plant

This is a very important post... it can help bring some clarity to an often argued issue: if it's not mentioned in the Bible, is it therefore condemned by God?

Let's say, that female angels aren't mentioned in scripture, does that mean any time someone might encounter a female angel, that it's in fact a demon? No, we cannot make that leap. The reason this is so hugely important is because a misunderstanding of this point could cause some to rush to judgment and declare a man of God who's flowing in power an agent of the devil!

This is very serious! Todd Bentley, for example, has been declared a heretic by many on the Emma issue alone.

In fact, many argue that scripture does in fact mention female angels:

Zechariah 5:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. 10 So I said to the angel who talked with me, "Where are they carrying the basket?"

If scripture is silent on an issue isn't evidence enough to deem it unscriptural.

There is a difference between something being renounced by scripture and something not being addressed by scripture.

This isn't a new issue... someone once said that the church isn't mostly divided on what the Bible does say as it is on what the Bible doesn't say.

At the risk of seeming silly, let me ask a question: The Bible says nothing about someone's left hand trembling in the presence of God. Does that mean, that if someone's hand starts to shake, that it's not God? It's a demon?

Of course not. There is MUCH the Bible doesn't address, and we can't simply presume it to be demonically driven. Of course, the rule always remains: if scripture condemns it, then we must also.

Additionally, we must discern for ourselves as we encounter God... yes, there is risk of deception, yes there are demons who come as angels of light, etc... but, it's not confusing. We are not to be fearful or nervous about the issue. God is going to do MUCH as revival breaks out... and if we're not careful we'll shut God down out of our own anxiety.

Remember what John said of Jesus:
John 21:25 (NKJV) And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

Re: Deception in the Church : Strange Fire in the House of the Lord : Colorado Springs church plant

I let my publisher know... was this for the Kindle? We must simply advance, love God, proclaim the message, stay grounded in the Word and expect a wild manifestation of the power and presence of God!

Re: Deception in the Church : Strange Fire in the House of the Lord : Colorado Springs church plant

Yep, I do see that. I think it's best, though, to draw the positive wisdom he's communicating... I'm sure he and I would have some slight differences, but that's true for any two people. I pray he wouldn't resist something just because it's unusual. Though, may people do.
