We might
have no choice and have to comply with any rule imposed. This is what
happens to consumer when competition is not allowed.

Re: The Maxis Broadband Chronicle

Hi,

I was never told about the "reset" if I convert RM88 to RM110 streamyx combo. I was not given any freebies (no modem, no nothing). So what is the basis of lock in? I was just paying a few ringgit less after conversion. That's the only tiny benefit I got from the conversion.

Anyway, after I filed the complain, Telekom called me and helped to process the termination, without penalty.

Re: The Maxis Broadband Chronicle

Hi,

I have been with DIGI for many years. Their customers service personnels are efficient. Normally it just requires a call to their helpline to get any matter solved.

I went to TM (Telekom) this morning to cancel my Streamyx and phone line. I thought it is just a simple visit to get those things done. But unfortunately, I was not allowed to cancel. If I were to cancel now, I need to pay penalty of RM660!!

2002 - I signed up for RM88/month streamyx 1Mb package, with modem
2003 - I stopped using the modem because a router is more useful (which I bought it myself of course)
2008 May - with the introduction of Streamyx Combo, I switched. So instead of paying RM88+26++ (~RM120), now I pay RM110/month
2009 Jan - I want to cancel my connection because Streamyx connection to certain server and websites sucks!! I have been trying Digi Edge connection with Data sim card in Dec. The speed is 20% of streamyx, but the loading is smooth, and never stuck. It only cost me RM33/month because I enabled data package (RM66/month) for the SIM card I am using on my iPhone. The total is only RM99 and I get to access internet anywhere, anytime.
When I wanted to cancel phone line today, I was not allowed to because the "lock-in" period reset when I switch to Streamyx Combo in May 2008. WTF?? I didn't get a laptop, or modem, or anything .. why am I locked in?? or locked up??

@Yowchuan, I read this post before. So I came here again to get the details of MCMC. A complain will be filed for certain! Thanks!

Re: How Fundsupermart will Revolutionize the Unit Trust Industry in Malaysia

There are a few requirement, which is quite tough to comply
1. have to untie from your previous Unit trust company (meaning resignation)
2. Min monthly payment is about RM300.. slightly different depends on age
2. If pay RM300/month, the payout is about half of it on the 10th years
onward (about RM1800/year)
3. If you can't afford to pay any premium, you can stop for a while. But the
plan have to be fully paid within the first 10 years. If you not, the
feature won't kick in at the end of the 10th year. If there is some premium
loan, you will need to pay some interest charges on daily basis (7% p.a.)
4. Disadvantage - you need to commit at least 10 years for premium payment
(force saving). It is not very liquid although you can take premium loan.

KC

Re: Resist Free Lunch

It is not wrong to treat it as an extremely high risk investment ..
but don't hurt your friends and family in the process.

Re: A Crisis of Solvency and Liquidity

This is interesting.
Who would you help YowChuan?

Re: 7 Ways to Get Low Airfares & Flights Discount for Malaysians

Yes. It used to have advanced premium discount. But this year GE
introduced APA account - advanced premium account. Your advanced
premium will get 4% per annum interest, and being used to pay premium
when it is due.

Re: My new book is published!

My wife and father also said the same thing :) about the US dollar.
That's something I overlooked.
Thanks!

Re: My new book is published!

Michelle, thanks for your feedback.
