The calculator seems like such a basic and essentially app that it's literally unbelievable that it isn't included on the iPad. And yet, it isn't. Really. It boggles the mind, but it really isn't there.

It's "15 minutes *from* downtown," not to. And yeah, right now from El Centro College to Galleria Dallas is 14 minutes, for example. I work across the street from the Galleria, and 15 minutes *to* downtown is pretty typical outside of rush hour, too.

Legacy West is literally between the two now-closed locations, so what conceivable reason could Apple have for moving there?

Or, instead of focusing on thin text inside a uniformly round shape against whatever your lens is pointed at, you could look at the camera icon, high-contrast white on black and very near the shutter button, and make sure the shape is horizontal.

Cody and Seth, please, I beg of you, shut up. This article wasn't about you, or about men at all. The women commenting are being polite and not pointing out how ridiculous your comments seem, but as a fellow man: your asinine comments say nothing more than that you think everything is centered on and focused at you as a man.

Not every space needs your perspective as a man. This space clearly doesn't. Read the essay, and either learn from it or don't. Whichever you do, please, do it without commenting.

Today, right now, I am already paying $41.58/month to Apple for the mid-sized iPhone 7 Plus, in lieu of $869 up front.

Other people are paying $45.75/month to Apple for the largest iPhone 7 Plus, which is $969.

If a new iPhone starts at $999, that's less than two dollars more per month for those other people, or maybe an extra six bucks a month more for me. Not hard to find that.

What companies paid more? I looked into this earlier this year, and it was hard to come up with numbers. It seemed at the time like the list was Exxon Mobil, followed by Apple, but perhaps you've got more accurate and up-to-date information?

I can pay $100 for 150MB down and 65MB up through Verizon FIOS, installation and wireless router free. I think that's about the best deal in the US, though. http://www22.verizon.com/ho...

Verizon also offers a package they describe as $94.99 (but I bet it's 30-50 more than that with taxes and fees), which includes 50/25MB internet, 210+ channels, unlimited phone, and wireless router. That sounds *roughly* equivalent to what you've described.

Jared, buddy, there's a post with your name on it that approvingly quotes Doug Wilson saying, "Men dream of being rapists, and women find themselves wistfully reading novels in which someone ravishes the “soon to be made willing” heroine." as well as "A man penetrates, conquers, colonizes, plants. A woman receives, surrenders, accepts."

Adding *more* words probably isn't your best bet at this point. What might bring more clarity is simple: Do you or do you not agree that in sex men are inherently conquering and colonizing while women are inherently surrendering? Do you or do you not agree that men dream of being rapists?

If not, and I hope not, maybe posting Doug Wilson's statements affirming those things was unwise, and a very simple retraction might be helpful.

Are you thinking people are going to buy more than one of these? I'm sure there are some people who will carry a second camera, but you might have the math wrong.

I have an iPhone 4S. It's a better camera than both of the point-and-shoots I already own, and has the added benefit of instantly transferring pictures I shoot to my home rig via iCloud. (It really is an amazing camera for its size.)

So for me, and for any other iPhone 4S owner, spending $35 or $70 for one of the lenses above gets me far better results than buying another point-and-shoot, in cost, in bulk, and in results.

Come to think of it, even a $250 adapter to mount my real SLR lenses starts to make sense when I consider that my phone will shoot HD video, while my DSLR won't.

Sure -- several of these lenses are small enough and cheap enough that I could throw one into my backpack and have it pretty handy wherever I go. My DSLR inhabits a pretty large camera bag with its lenses, and is often mounted on a tripod at home while I'm out and about.

I have a proper DSLR with proper lenses. I don't tend to have it with me everywhere I go, though. These lenses are much more likely to be on my person when unexpected events crop up.

Of course they won't be *quite* the same quality as the DSLR. But they'll get closer.

Nobody is suggesting pursuing professional portraiture using one of these lenses, lads.

Harvey, the proximity sensor in the 4S is different from all previous devices. Jailbroken devices running Siri do not auto-activate as the 4S does. That might be reason enough for Apple to insist on not enabling it for those devices; the inconsistency breaks the experience.

I'm sure Siri will eventually be on all devices, but that doesn't mean it will ever become available for devices older than the 4S. It might, or they might just wait a few years until the iPhone 4 drops off the supported list.

We're a nation of germaphobes, so I expect bottles of hand-sanitizer to remain a staple. Our eyes aren't getting any better, either, so glasses abound. Sunglasses are common. Moleskines have never been about practicality--there are cheaper bits of paper--but about inspiration.
Knives will remain popular, because those Amazon boxes don't open well at the edge of my phone.

I admit I don't understand why people still wear watches, but I suppose it's a fashion statement of some sort.

I still carry a pen, and find myself writing on paper quite frequently, even in the presence of a laptop, iPad, and iPhone. I'm not sure why, but I expect that to continue.

If you broke your headlights trying to replace them, the dealer would obviously charge you to fix your breakage. Apple does extraordinary warranty work, and I suspect these screws are a misguided attempt to avoid replacing phones people claim they've never tried to open.

If Apple charged by the hour for all work, I'm guessing they'd use ordinary off-the-shelf screws as well!
