While I appreciate and welcome this move, it'd be nice to know exactly who these people are. I for one would like to know the faces behind the product I love and use.

That's not true. The ruling comes into effect "on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette." which is definitely not six months away.

The six months is just for telcos to comply, in case subscribers are already subscribed to packs offered by them. They have six months to change that.

FWIW, anyone who already had iWork installed on their Macs also get the free upgrades. Even if the user didn't buy iWork from the App Store, they'll still see & can install the updates for free from the App Store.

The SMSs are routed through hike's own Gateway, which is in India itself. So the answer to your first concern is yes, it'll be paid for him, but not at international charges. As for your second concern, the person will be replying to hike's number, so the SMS is routed through the gateway and arrives in the hike app itself.

That's not why users are mad. They're mad because Apple decided to ship an unfinished, severely lacking version of Maps for other countries. Maps are their most promoted feature of iOS, and they demoed US and a few other major countries, but their data in the other countries and cities is a complete joke.

Of course, we don't know if it was Google who wasn't ready to renew their license with Apple on agreeable terms, but we also don't know if Apple's being arrogant here.

In any case, they could've just shipped this with a Beta tag and there'd have been slightly less outrage. Siri, which is in "beta", performs better than this top feature of iOS 6.

Edit: To be clear, this is a case where a company has actively replaced a perfectly good product with one that's sheer outdated, wrong or incomplete in MOST places and yet the company is pushing it as a tent-pole feature.

That's Airtel, and Airtel's implementation of LTE only allows data so far. There's no voice over LTE implemented in India yet.

Additionally, the frequency band that Airtel has is not compatible with the iPhone 5 (or the new iPad).

"LTE technology" isn't all patented by Samsung, FWIW. Samsung holds _some_ patents related to LTE implementation.
