In most cases, that makes all the difference between success and failure.

Re: The F Word

I do echo your sentiment that facebook fan pages are somewhat redundant for most businesses. I created one with a lot of enthusiasm for lifeblob and it is just sitting there without adding much value to the overall business.

However, I do see some of the brands using facebook pages very well in combination with their advertisement on other media to drive user engagement, provide information and get valuable feedback. I think they do serve a very valuable purpose in these short-term kind of campaigns but may not be as valuable for a really long term customer engament.

Re: Why I Deleted my Facebook Fan Page

Chris - If it was called a "Facebook Page" instead of a "Facebook Fan Page", would you still delete it?

Just trying to assess how big an impact the presentation of a feature can have on end users.

Re: Want to See Dr. Horrible RickRolling LOLCats?

I would also recommend looking at http://www.lifeblob.com for social timelines, where you can add people to your timeline posts and have the posts come up on their timelines too.

So if you go out on a trip with your friends, you can now simply upload your photos, add their names and the trip post becomes a part of their timelines too. There are over 300,000 existing timeline that you can join - check this for a sample: http://www.lifeblob.com/topic/zoozoo

Pranav Bhasin
http://www.lifeblob.com/user/pranav

Re: The Next Layer Of The Social Media Stack

I think aggregation and filtering is a good start, but not good enough to sustain in the long run. A service needs more meat on top of it to add value and that in my mind comes from inferences driven from aggregated data or showing how diverse pieces of data are related to each other in some manner.

Re: Be Naked

Makes perfect sense. I've noticed that every time I stumble and acknowledge my fault, a new path opens up, and it in more cases than not leads to a better result.

Also I think informal discussions have the potential to give a lot of insights that you may not get if you are too focussed on an outcome. I just haven't figured out a way to make it work for myself yet.

Re: Be Naked

Adam - Your suggestion is spot on. I feel that all these social tools are just a channel and eventually it is a personal connection between two people that will help - multiple tools just make it a lot harder to build strong connections.

Re: Create Your Own Tumblr Styled Site Using Wordpress

Neat idea - thanks Mark.

Re: SCruz Views | Lifestreaming web sites

Yup, I have used swurl in the past. Lifeblob's killer feature is how you get to see relationships of each post behind it in a timeline format.

The timeline is loading for me, perhaps a temporary glitch. If you are still facing issues, I hope it would not be too much to ask if I request you to send your OS and browser versions to feedback [at] lifeblob.com and we will look into it immediately.

Re: SCruz Views | Lifestreaming web sites

Hey Sergio, have you taken a look at http://www.lifeblob.com yet? Take a look at my timeline, I think you will like it: http://www.lifeblob.com/user/pranav . You can also embed your timeline into a blog post or any website you wish.

Feel free to ping me for any help!

Re: Lifeblob - Capture Your Life on a Timeline

Thanks for your coverage of lifeblob. An airline shutting down is going to take a large number of small and medium businesses along with it as well.

A lot of big companies don't have the guts to cut the fat and if they are pushed into a corner ( by not being offered a bailout ), they may just be forced to price their services beyond reasonable limits to offset the costs. How do you deal with that ?

Re: The Next Trend in Organizations? However, if there are too many investors following this model and not enough good ( committed ) entrepreneurs, the tide may just turn against it eventually.

Re: LifeinLines and LifeBlob.
