I grew up in Philadelphia, and the extraordinary Wanamaker Organ (so named for the now-defunct department store; now a Macy's) was a source of boundless inspiration. That magnificent instrument filled the cavernous 8-floor atrium with its extraordinary sound, and attracted the best organists of its day (Virgil Fox, E. Power Biggs) play and record there. To boot, the ubiquity and easy access via EA's savvy use of social networking logins is, as Yogi Berra quipped, the "gravy on the cake."

Folks may or may not be aware that Tiger Woods and his management organization have been social media-savvy for years. When I was Eastern U.S. Evangelist for The WELL's professional services group (circa 1997), our team built and moderated Tiger's first online fan community, back when the TigerWoods.com site was part of CBS Sportsline. I think the EA approach is a natural evolution of that early experience.

Re: Guest Post- Why Cant We Be Friends

Nice guest post. We've found it helpful when working with IT folks to let them know we're not competing with them for resources or attention. Also good to help them understand that if a project goes south (for reasons beyond their or our control), they won't be left holding the bag...But they WILL share in the credit for its success.

Re: Proper Attribution, or What’s Up With All This Via Crap?

Joe,

Good points here about attribution.

In the Twitter/microblogging universe, I contend this is equally important, as well. If something originated with, say, @coolguy, but @smartgrrl added additional, original insight ...or summarized in a particularly helpful way, I believe it's appropriate to say RT (i.e., re-tweet) @coolguy, via @smartgrrl. By definition, there can never be "too much" or "too little" discussion of Britney Spears, quantum mechanics, how to make noodle kugel, or anything else. Rather, there's exactly as much as the marketplace wants there to be, irrespective of whether you, I, or any other single individual may have interest in any given topic at any given point in time. Of course, *conversations* between free people are the marketplace -- the agora of ideas, if you will. That's the fundamental idea behind work like The Cluetrain Manifesto, and social media itself.

It's like the classic confrontation scene between the Emperor Joseph and Mozart in the film Amadeus. There can never be "too many notes." http://bit.ly/1kzOPw

Re: Mashable on Tumblr - Social Media Marketing Madness

Those of us who are parents and spouses instinctively want to protect our families from hardship and to ensure that their needs are met.

Ultimately, it can be a lot scarier in the long run, though, to tread water in place and keep doing the same stuff, in the same way and achieving (surprise!) the same - or even diminishing - results.

So, good on ya' Chris, and good on us all. May God inspire and enlighten us with the insights we'll need to utilize our gifts to the fullest, and to discern and fulfill His will in 2009.

Re: User-Generated Government

You're more than welcome.

Re: User-Generated Government

Kevin, I've been writing a post on this topic as well.
