Payday Loan is such a huge help especially at present times where consumers are going through a lot of economic hardships, I think taking away additional sources of financial help is not the way to go.
Election Day is behind us, and America has a new leader. The U.S. has chosen “change” by electing Barack Obama. There is no doubt that change is in store for the United States. Whether the United States changes for the better or for the worse is yet to be seen. It’s obvious that Americans believe Obama will bring a positive change to our country. Obama has promised the U.S. a lot of things like lower taxes for the middle class, putting a timeline on the war in Iraq, and trimming the federal budget “line by line.” What many Americans don’t realize is that Obama has also supported the elimination of the payday loan industry. Obama thinks doing away with the payday loan industry will protect low-income, and often minority, families from being victimized by predatory lenders. However, getting rid of the payday loans is a violation of our financial freedom. Maybe Obama will give America what it needs, but taking away our financial freedom isn’t a great start to creating positive change.

Is there really a need for police state crackdown? People should be more respectful; it’s the adult thing to do. I wonder if it's true what they say about the "Bradley Effect." In a nutshell, the “Bradley Effect” theorizes that a mass horde of the public will declare, via phone surveys, online surveys, and other kinds of pollsters, that they, like an apparent majority, support minority candidates for elected office. Accordingly these minority candidates, who get in the race against a Caucasian opponent, gain the impression that they are a shoe-in for a victory. But then, according to the theory, which is sometimes referred to as the Wilder Effect, those polled wind up supporting the white candidate once they’re within the comfort and privacy of the actual voting booth. Long story short, there is a universal belief, amongst supporters of this theory, that the masses have cold feet about electing a minority to office, but then speak otherwise out of fear of being labeled a bigot or racist. I would like to think the American people are beyond this. I would hope they would vote for a person based on the issues, not the color of their skin or their gender, for that matter. I'm more interested in electing the candidate who preserves my rights. Right now, I'm more concerned about my right to take out quick loans, in order to get out of dire straits. Voting for someone who takes away my choices regarding my finances; I call that crazy in any color.

In the early days of the 19th century, the renowned French political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville visited America, and made many observations. One of his observations was that “the surface of American society is covered with a layer of democratic paint, but from time to time one can see the old aristocratic color breaking through.” This quote is from the book that Tocqueville wrote about his travels and observations in America in the 1830s, but it seems to ring true still to this day, almost 180 years later. In this day and age, we have candidates both hopeful and incumbent that are clamoring for the end of cash advances, claiming they are a detriment to the people. Some have gone as far as to propose outlawing the industry outright, such as Ted Strickland, governor of Ohio. His new law, if it passes, will all but ban the industry outright and put upwards of 6,000 people on the unemployment line. To make it worse, both Presidential candidates both voted to pass a law that banned the lending of cash advances to military personnel. Obama has pledged even further intrusion into the industry, by pledging to support measures that would make normal business operation impossible for short term lenders. Aristocracy is a political system in which a ruling class makes decisions on behalf of the rest of the population. Let’s hope that they don’t get to make all of our decisions for us when it comes to our financial options.

Alexis de Tocqueville, the great French political philosopher, once said, “The surface of American society is covered with a layer of democratic paint, but from time to time one can see the old aristocratic colors breaking through.” Although that quote was first spoken several decades ago, it seems fresh to the ears, ringing true nationwide during this election. In this case, we have elected government officials and hopefuls, for some reason or another, who have at least claimed that cash advances are damaging to the American people. Some have even gone as far as to propose devastating measures that would wipe out the entire industry in some states, or even the whole country! Ohio Governor Ted Strickland is one of the people supporting these initiatives. He is on the move to pass Ohio’s HB 545, which will, in fact, destroy the industry and leave about 6,000 of his people unemployed. Even worse, both Presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain supported a bill that ultimately banned payday loans to military personnel. In addition to that, Obama is supporting related propositions that will make it almost impossible for short-term lenders to continue operating. Let’s continue our concentrated effort to keep those aristocratic colors from breaking through while we fight not only for the good fate of payday loans, but for our rights to financial freedom.

The great French political philosopher, Alexis de Tocqueville, once said, “The surface of American society is covered with a layer of democratic paint, but from time to time one can see the old aristocratic colors breaking through.” That quote seems to represent our current state of government, especially during this year’s election. We have political incumbents and hopefuls who believe, or at least claim to believe, that cash advances are a detriment to the American people. Some of these politicians have proposed to eliminate the entire payday loan industry out of certain states and even the entire country! Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s proposition is just one example of this; if House 545 passes, the payday loan industry in Ohio will disappear and so will the industry’s 6,000 employees. Both Presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain backed a bill that essentially barred military personnel from receiving payday loans. Moreover, Obama has also supported measures that would make it impossible for these short term lenders to stay in business. An aristocracy is one where one ruling class makes decisions on behalf of everyone else. Let’s hope those old aristocratic colors don’t break through when determining the outcome of payday loans.

There are only a few days until the next election. It happens Tuesday, November 4th. This is easily the most important election in living memory. However, I never have put much stock into the “political polls,” which are taken as fact by the major news outlets. The reason is that you never know just how those polls’ results are derived. If you have 2/3 of a sample (that’s what the group that is questioned for their opinions is called, a sample) saying that they, per se, intend to vote for Obama instead of McCain, you don’t know what you’re really hearing. The entire population of the United States of America, including all expatriates still retaining citizenship, along with citizens of the territories, has not and couldn’t possibly be sampled. What the 2/3 of the sample means is that 2/3 of the sampled population intends to vote for Obama. The sample could be almost anything; they don’t include the sampling data along with their poll results, so you don’t know just who or what may have contributed to that large of a skew in the data. Don’t let the media cast your vote for you; vote however you think is best.

To the people of Ohio: now is your chance to speak up and voice your demand for financial freedom. Those who depend upon the availability of payday loans for unexpected emergency expenses they hadn’t budgeted for must speak up this election day. We cannot allow Ohio’s HB 545 to take away the financial freedom we have, and have been fighting for. This House Bill is not a Robin Hood that will “steal from the rich and give to the poor.” In actuality, it is more like the Sheriff of Nottingham appointing more vassals. Other financial institutions, such as banks and credit unions, are certainly pleased to support such measures for they seek to snatch up the business payday lenders who have been squeezed out of business will leave. Moreover, they will subject consumers to a product that will be even more profitable for banks: overdraft fees. They strive to magnify the “horrifying” 391 percent APR on faxless payday loans, but overdraft protection typically costs in excess of 1,000 percent APR. This further proves their gluttonous intentions to overwrite every other financial institution, like the payday loan industry, and become consumers’ only option when unexpected financial fallbacks occur. Bear in mind that payday loans are typically only two-week loans to begin with, so it’s no doubt a circle and stripe argument. Plus, voting NO on HB 545 will prevent the annihilation of about 6,000 jobs in Ohio, which will support the further destruction to an already suffering economy. Odds are that many who lose their jobs because of the government overregulation will be forced to work and/or live outside of Ohio, which will definitely create a tax and spending power deficit for the state. In conclusion, if you want to help fix your state’s economy and value your rights to financial freedom, vote NO on HB 545.
