Why not search engines?
Because search engines are a tertiary source.

A search engine never says “Alex is a thief.”
A search engine will only say “Ben says on his website that Alex is a thief.”

If you have a problem with something a newspaper publishes, you should go to the newspaper. Don’t go to every newsstand in town asking them to tear out a few pages.

Come on, giving Wikipedia an incentive to encourage people to buy Twilight or book a trip to Hawaii totally undermines their credibility.
I can already see editors not allowing edits that make Hawaii look less appealing as a tourist destination.
If somebody makes a profit from selling you something, how can you trust them as an "unbiased" source, and if Wikipedia can't be unbiased, who will be?

I can rent TV shows from iTunes on my computer, but cannot transfer them to my iPod, unlike TV shows I buy, or movies I rent.
What's the difference?
