I also hope that one day a comment can be left once and aggregated everywhere and folks are working on trying to solve that issue. There are all kinds of issues around privacy, sharing, credentials, and other factors which make a system of auto-logged-in-commenting seem easy but difficult to implement. One persons dream feature is anothers privacy nightmare so its about executing on solving problems most users face today, then delivering value and solving problems to the more bleeding edge users tomorrow.

This is definitely great feedback for the Disqus guys and a general use case for a power user of these services.

Re: Google Dashboard

Great - thanks for sharing the link

Re: Google Dashboard

Do you think this will change over time? It keeps the attention on the post at hand and opens the door to get in touch if its relevant. Putting comments elsewhere may be confusing if its not a two way dialogue.

Re: Talk to your customers – and let them talk to each other

Its all about A/B testing and conversions - you should test it with and
without.

Re: The New USV.com Launches In Beta

Disqus is now working again throughout the site.

Re: The New USV.com Launches In Beta

Thanks for the feedback - this is now fixed in IE (was a CSS issue)

Re: Motorola Droid Review

There is not native support for exchange I don't think but it works so
seamlessly that it almost doesn't matter.

re: cloud storage:
This is an issue across multiple services so it depends (crappy answer I
know) In my case its Facebook and Gmail storing the data so therein is the
trust. While some may love to fill out a form and check boxes, it deters others.

By providing dynamic information about the portfolio companies themselves it gives even more insight into those you "have not yet met". You can see latest issues on their minds (blog), opportunities (jobs), and activities (twitter feeds) and therefore would have a much better understanding of who is behind the organization and who, when, and where to get in touch with them. This is how the new USV helps you meet people you would have not otherwise met.

Re: Contest: Win Trick ‘r Treat on Blu-ray

Thanks matt!

Re: Google Dashboard

I would definitely want to see that data too.

Re: Data Exhaust

I will check it out.

Re: Data Exhaust

The first time you use Facebook, your profile is empty, which is why they
have created an almost game like dynamic to "get your profile complete".
Inferences made from your completed profile help advertisers reach you,
relevant news feed items come through, and honestly tweak the system so that
you don't see what you don't want. All that happens through categories you
opt into and data you share not a series of questions like "what type of
news do you want to see - choose from these 85 choices" which is the old
way.

I think Amazon is another that contours results from the moment you click an
item, search for something, or make a purchase. Your customized Amazon
looks exponentially different than mine - all due to data exhaust and no
difficult questions.

A brand new system has a major data density problem that can be solved by
bringing over credentials from another system, or providing a value
proposition that is so strong, you start contributing back to the system and
solve the data problem.

Re: Data Exhaust

Collect it all.

Re: Introducing Tracked.com

Yes.

Re: Google Apps Connector For BES

Any experience using or setting up with this vendor?

Re: How to setup an appointment

I would LOVE this feature. My collection of mono lps can attest to that. However, I will disagree with your point of "chasing the false god of technical sound".

It's one thing if a record sounds poor because it is an old recording, or because recording conditions were poor. Old blues records from Ma Rainey, Robert Johnson and Bukka White sound pretty bad technically, but that is understood given the conditions those artists recorded their songs in. I recognize that, and enjoy them for what they are.

However, what we have today are sound engineers deliberately recording music poorly. Excessive DRC that removes the highs and lows of the tracks is not a good thing, and never will be. That has nothing to do with sound technicality. It's not how the song sounds at all. Why would I want the sound to be altered to the detriment of fidelity? That is something I just can't support, and I can't see how any music lover would support sound engineers destroying the music put forth by the artist. It's downright arrogant imo.

Re: Google Apps Connector For BES

Thanks for the information - I have considered running an Amazon EC2
instance but then we are left managing a server. I would rather pay
slightly more to have a managed hosting environment in case of downtime or
updates. After, with email being mission critical we cannot have things go
down. The other alternative is to switch to Google Apps without BES - which
is not a great option. I think tons of people would gladly switch if Google
hosted a BES for people.

Was the provider you used in the beignning exchangemymail.com or was that
who you switched to?
