Next time a gang member is killed by a breast, call me. Guns are easily obtained in Gilroy. I'm sure more guns have killed police officers than breasts. I'm sure if you asked a police officer what they feared, it wouldn't be a breast, it would be a gun. Maybe you should focus your energy on getting rid of guns in Gilroy instead of breasts.

I hate to say it like this, but decency isn't a right. It is a condition. Certainly a desirable condition, but not a guaranteed one. The First amendment prevents the government from abridging the governed's right to free speech. In theory it must trump all but established law, and even then free speech and expression has a place in the peaceful defiance of established law. Just think of where you would be if you didn't have First Amendment protection should you have an opinion not consistent with the mainstream of those around you. Think Tiananmen Square in China. You think the guy in front of the tank was the beginning of that issue? The only reason he had the stones was that that generation was finally tired of the Government killing people off for having an opinion and expressing it.

Let's clear the air a bit. I did not SUPPORT the proposed club. I support the right of Bilic to propose a LEGAL business BECAUSE his chosen business is legal and the City currently allows it in certain areas of the city.

Do I like the idea of a strip club, no. I don't like cigarette smoking, concealed defensive carry permits, the fact that an illegal alien can obtain medical services free of charge here in California that ultimately all Californians end up paying for just because they are on California soil either. I don't like that elections here in Gilroy recently were changed to even years, or that Measure P passed.

Just because I don't like them doesn't make them wrong. Until those, and a myriad of other things change or otherwise become illegal, I, and every other American/Gilroyan who feels as I do, am just going to have to live with those things, or petition our leaders/legislature to have those things we most detest in this world made illegal. Non permitted is a better idea for the strip club, however. Making something illegal has big consequences.

The problem with making something illegal after allowing it legally is the 'thing' will go underground. The infrastructure/distribution is already in place. Making it illegal will only remove regulation for working hours, workplace safety, make it more expensive, and promote the purveyors who have the muscle and staying power to dominate the now illegal activity. Case in point: Drugs and Prohibition.

I didn't like what you said about my teens. However I recognized you had the right to say it. The sooner all of us regognize each and every one of us has the same rights the better off we all will be.

Kids will grow up and explore and unless parents are there to explain what things are, and how they affect each other, then no matter how far you put a strip club, those kids might eventually either visit one or work in one.

I shouldn't have said it the way I did. But what I do mean to say is that you would not feel the same if it were your family members being used in the porn industry. Porn is a very destructive force on marriages, mentality, those who are trapped in the lifestyle. Disease and drugs run rampant and families are destroyed. Some estimates say that 40% of women and 60% of men have an addiction to porn. The 1st amendment was not meant to trump decency.

Alcohol isn't necessarily too good for a community either AmeriProud, but it is legal. Life is a series of choices. Funny thing about businessmen- they can read tea leaves fairly well. I'd be surprised if another tried to come to Gilroy for some time. Offhandedly- were it me, and it isn't, expect something from Council in the first or second quarter 09 regarding this business type.

Also, we live in a free society- so I have the responsibility to vehemently support your First Amendment right to scream, "I hope your teens grow up and get trapped in the porn industry..." at the top of your lungs in my face just as vehemently as I dislike what you said.

You are right in that legal may or not be right. If you feel as strongly as you seem to, given your comment, about barring adult businesses from our great city I expect you to be in front of the charge to petition City Council to make it so!

WE in Santa Clara county will spend taxpayer money to try and get the ban on two dudes getting married overturn (which is repulsive) but yet we are so holy we are up in arms over a strip club? I too am against the strip club, but am equally or more outraged that our county government who is broke is spending tax payer money to overturn the will of the people to stop morally repulsive "marriages".

In most of societies and of course our Creator's eyes....Yes. The firs thing Guiliani did that helped clean up NYC is that he got rid of most of the strip clubs and porn shops.

Who are you to draw the line? Honestly anyones marital status is NONE OF YOUR BUISNESS..If 5 concenting adults want to be married let them if one man can handle 4 women then congradulations to him and in the bible some men had many wives, as long as he can take care of them and they are all happy. Jake and Jake can adopt unwanted children and raise a beautiful loving good child just like a man and woman can. The main thing a child needs is someone to love and care for them. No one is preventing procreation, if people actually took responsibility for their actions the US would not have so many abandoned babies or kids in foster homes. And if a homosexual family wants to adopt 4,5,6 kids well thats that many more kids that just recieved a couple of damn good folks who wanted to give those kids a chance to have a life. So until you can provide a home for the unwanted children let them have 2 mom's or 2dad's, your not giving them anything
