If I get the chance to speak at NSCC again, you can bet I'll take them up on it. Teaching is one of my favorite activities.

Re: Your Baby is on Flickr

It'll be interesting to see where Yahoo! goes. Even though their CEO is kickin' butt, I still don't see them being as big of a player going forward.

Re: Tonight at Nashville State

Glad I could be of service!

Re: Nate News -- Your brainstorming session on storytelling and the Internet -- Nashville

Hmm... Perhaps my error. The content was cut off when it was imported into tumblr. I certainly hope that it works out.

I really enjoyed what I saw of your WP presentation. You are the king of WP, and does people good to listen. While at Barcamp, I know that at least 5 people told me that you changed how they look at WP. Too Hateful? No, Just Changing.

Jason Calacanis exhibited some of the same sentiments in his latest post over at http://calacanis.com . He's made the move to leave blogging behind (at least for a while, I know we'll still be seeing articles from him on occasion) because of the extremely biased environment. In a move that surprised everyone, he's now sending out periodic e-mails to a list of almost 750 subscribers, and trying to do exactly what you're doing: have a more intimate conversation with his readers.

I admit to blogging in non-personal mode. Most of what I post is to either educate or inform - from a business perspective. I agree, what used to be the biggest draw to new bloggers - the ability to post unique, honest content and have it digested by the masses - is gone. Here's to the ones who work tirelessly to bring it back.

Re: Where/How Do You Flow Creatively?

You're right - it is hard. I've found that cranking up some smooth jazz empowers me with superhuman creativity, and I'm able to leap over coding challenges with a single bound.

Of course, the various coffeehouses, with the artsy decor also lend a hand to creating the Zen atmosphere that you're after... Unless you're at a Panera during the lunch rush, or the jazz is obnoxiously loud. Just about anything that kills stress typically helps.

Now, that being said, I have days where I need the driving, in-your-face progressive rock momentum. I bet you understand those too.

Re: Online engagement = A second look

Seesmic video reply from Disqus.

Re: Why the Google / Viacom lawsuit may be GOOD for online media

Let's face it. When the public wants media, they go to familiar places. Whether that's YouTube, Bit Torrent, LimeWire, or another network. As companies, why would we waste our time trying to change users' browsing preferences? I admit, there is value when the official site gets hits, but if the core idea is to get the media out for exposure - we're wasting time and effort.

Any smart business knows that when the public creates a buzz like this, it dramatically cuts their need for marketing dollars. Instead of fighting it, let's use it to our advantage.

Re: My MacBook Mission - Accomplished!

Dave,

Glad to see the mission was accomplished... and I'd love to be part of the beta.

Re: links for 2008-07-04

Seesmic video reply from Disqus.
